Having said that, others have said I should get a reading with them on and multi probes on terminals........
The 2013GS heated grips are rubbish. So they upped the rating on 2014 models onwards. Can’t recall Mutleys have an inbuilt delay. My 11 plate one didn’t I think!
If you read the owners manual it states that they only are on when the engine is running and also if the voltage in the battery drops below 11.9v the grips are de-activated until the voltage rises above this to preserve starting capability. So if your battery is goosed then this could be reason they are not working.
If you can measure a resistance over the two connection points that will tell you that the circuit is complete. Same thing check resistance at the two pin plug in connector after removing your tank, this will confirm the wiring to your plug point is ok.
OK thanks, I have just tested both elements at the terminal, LH has a reading, RH has nothing. Can I assume that the right hand is goosed? Also, did I read that if the RH fails, the LH won’t work either?
No resistance means it's toast. My lh heating element failed but the rh still heated, so I assume it's not connected in series and work independently (on my 2015 DVT )
Just found an old thread that said they are in parallel but when one doesn’t work then the other won’t either...... but you proved that wrong to!
Wired a cheap eBay element in to RH grip, started up and they both came on. As they heated up, the LH got a seriously hot spot and burnt my hand (no grips on) then it stopped working and I could see the obvious burnout. Fitted the other eBay element to LH side and all good.
