Mmmm just sold my 1198s after 8 years. Second the superpole seat Mine had a few bells and whistles (seat,Variobars,Termis etc,) I would definitely ride one before you decide (like 20 miles +) if you can. You may change your mind !!! But if you want Brutal power, fabulous looks and can overcome the burning sensation of your but at lights your good.
The smaller engined superbikes are exactly that. They are pretty much exactly the same size and weight, so don’t expect huge handling benefits. Having been spat off my 999, I think I might want abs, myself...
Welcome chap, not a newer model aficionado meself ( the trellis framed bikes you speak of are my thing) but I always had a thing for the 1198. Nearly got one a while back, test rode it. That sound!! Cheers,
