Agree, and aren't they all money pits in the end? You will get conflicting views but I would prefer to find and fix problems on a 748/996 than a 749/999 myself. Main one on the former for me is flaking chrome on rockers but once replaced by an improved version the problem is virtually eradicated.
Again thanks for the replies and advice, the 848 in the link is beautiful, so much so i've tried to start a conversation with the owner but as yet no reply, he doesn't appear to have been seen for week or so.
Welcome to the forum. I am another 848 Evo se owner that I have had from new in 2012. Toured on it, tracked it, polished it a lot. It still evokes the same feelings it did when I first got. if you want an introduction to Ducati ownership I can’t think of any better. Also get a good one for the right money and it should hold its value really well. Good luck!
I loved my 848 - I’m 5’-8” with 30” inside leg and managed both feet almost flat on the ground. The only mod I’d recommend is swapping the standard clutch slave cylinder for an Oberon to reduce the effort at the lever.
Ducbird, Yes we did have a chat and the good member (that don't sound right ?) has quite understandably decided he couldn't sell it after all. However I have since put a deposit on another 848 EVO I found, so soon to be an owner of a Duc. Pic of it and a bin will follow no doubt.
Well I've done it and it has been delivered this afternoon 2013 -848 EVO bog standard apart from rear seat cowl, 5K miles its beautiful!!! Now the silly newbie questions will no doubt start , I will read the handbook and try search function but something will flumux me . Cheers
I use mine on track only. The 848 spins up slower, but is better at tracks like Silverstone. The 748 is super nimble and revvy so really good at tracks like Jerez where it keeps up with the big boys. I am 6'3" so look like a orangutan on the 748. Would prefer to be your height for these bikes.
