Help! Just Got Done For Speeding

thats my fear as well.. still waiting on summons, been just just under 6 months now i think..

 

I think they have 6 months to reply from the date you got caught...

 

i hope that is correct.. am afraid to open my mail at the mo!! wouldnt have been so bad serving a short ban not long after the offence as i didnt really need to drive then but do now..

 

I got a 2 week ban on 18th December and got it back 1st Jan. Was quite handy to be honest as I got chauffeured an entire Christmas.

 

Id check up but if you want I can ask my mate.....

Handle with care. I would ask politely for the evidence that will be presented in court and then write a very nice letter to the court stating extenuating circumstances, if there are any. I had a similar drama (101mph) and they sent me this photograph and while we could have argued over image quality, etc it was quite clearly me and the 'letter of doom' arrived at my doorstep. I booked myself on a Bike Safe course and joined IAM as some form of defense that I realized what I had done and was taking steps to retrain myself and this went down well with the magistrate. I was also very prompt replying to letters and used this in my favour. I got away with 6 points and 200 quid fine, so was very lucky but was prepared for a ban. Email me and I'll send copies of my letters if you wish (if I can find them)

I got banned in 2010. 112 in a 70. I got banned for 56 days and a £150 fine. The thing is, the ban is a ban, there is no points so if you got caught speeding again, had you taken the 6 to 9 points you would have been dangerously close to totting up and got a ban anyway after hitting 12 points. I pleaded poverty, even though I was driving a 911!!! It was my last hurrah in it as I had actually sold it, but made out I'd sold it as it was too easy to drive fast.

Anyway, my insurance didn't didn't rise that much to be honest, think it was £60! but it did stay prominent on my license for 5 years.
