Best example of fair parking charges is national trust who put a polite notice on your vehicle and invite you to pay up.. When I got that one (it was more than I had in my pocket so my ticket expired) I did and made a donation as well. Everybody happy.
From your description i might have been parked in the same field ..... on entry through the gate in the fence there were signs indicating the parking was controlled by an outside company. Small signs but clearly marked that it was expected payment for parking by contacting a phone number unless you had paid in advance and had a pass to display (which i fortunately had). Similar system to a lot of parking areas especially near train stations etc. My son had been the previous 2 years and commented that nobody gave a shit about paying for parking as he always saw loads of cars without passes but he always got one just in case. we got back to our car as soon as MotoGP finished and i saw loads of cars with tickets attached to them and pissed off owners so appears this year silverstone actually enforced their parking charges through an external agency. Good luck in arguing it and hoping it goes away but dont rely on saying there were no signs as there were (but small and not the easiest to read )
Hi Bigyin Thanks for the reply, we couldn't have been in the same field, the one we parked in didn't have a sign on entrance or when parked, we had a good look, they did mail me last Friday to say they will take up the points i made with there client, As funny as it may sound i had a closer look at the parking ticket and you can see it has been filled in by two different people with two different black pens as the numbers/letters are not all the same :Shifty:
No worries as i said, best of luck with it, i was just letting you know some, but possibly not all, of the fields were poorly signed up if you were basing your argument on that The parking organisation was appalling from start to finish with both signage and arranging the entry and exit. I took over 3 hours to get out of the car park (field) despite being one of the early ones back to the cars and by my guess should have been home in Norfolk by the time i actually got out of the gate at the circuit. Any attendance in future will be by bike ....we only took the car as my son no longer has any bike gear that fits him as he has grown out of all his ped and 125 riding kit As for the 2 pens, i am wondering if they have written a load of tickets out prior to the event for each car park with location/event/date etc then as they were walking round a second individual has entered the individual vehicle details prior to fixing them to cars ??
just to throw into the "small/poor signs" issue.. I'm pretty sure that there is a minimum legal size and they must follow a standard format etc Their own code of practice: look at section 18 http://www.britishparking.co.uk/write/Documents/AOS_Code_of_Practice_October_2015_update_V6..pdf also a rather interesting read: BBC One - Watchdog - OPC: Breaking BPA Law
Give them a notice of 28working days to provide evidence & answers to your question & deliberations on this matter as you are certainly not a criminal. Write without prejudice marked on the letter What is without prejudice? definition and meaning - BusinessDictionary.com & then state if they do not forfill your terms stated you will consider the matter closed. Take your own copy of this letter in the form of a PDF file & email them it as well as post it. You could even request a confirmation email when recipt has been acknowleged.
Indigo had to redo all the signs at our local station as the first ones didn't constitute 'sufficient signage'. Everyone got off those initial tickets. People then parked on a grass verge on the main road (no yellows). Indigo ticketed them despite it not being their land (main highway with no restriction). Just goes to show they ticket first and worry about the legality later. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Cheers chaps, Bigyin, You have a point about prewritten tickets, it took us three hours to get out and i should have been home watching Poldark by the time we got out  Penfold I have put that in my email's about section 18 and twice they have just skipped that part and just pushed for evidence of a parking ticket but now they are "looking into it", going by the BPA rules i won't be charged. Thanks for everyones input.
I'm surprised they didn't slap a ticket on you while you were queueing for 3 hours trying to get out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
One thing we didnt see much, if any of, was staff responsible for sorting out the parking during the endurance event of getting out of the car park
Well, I got a reply today stating that they will not be chasing me for the fine and there will be no more communication on the matter Should anyone be going to the next GP, i would suggest when driving down the main road that goes past the circuit, park on the righthand side which is made up of about 3 large fields as there is no sign's or terms and conditions about parking but should there be at the next GP then get a ticket on the day, I'm not sure if Silverstone own the fields. If you park on the lefthand side of the road most of the carparks are tarmac and have signs about T and C when you get nearer to the entrance gates which are basically next to the carpark but the fields are a separate carpark to the main tarmac ones so should have there own sign's and T and C because if they are the same then I'm sure i would have to pay? Thanks to all for your input
Also, if you buy a ticket then hang on to it for a couple of weeks after in case you need to prove you paid! It is your receipt and the only surefire evidence you will have.
I don't suppose you're still active on here, literally same thing has happened to me and was wondering if you could help Thanks
Yay.... haha. I can see it was a while ago that this happened to you but I don't suppose you still have a copy of what you sent to the the parking company to get this nonsense stopped lol
Sorry no i don't, I haven't read this thread again but i mentioned along the lines of there was no parking meters or signs to tell me i couldn't park there and if there was charge, i was in a field at Silverstone so could be different to you it is a minefield subject but i found they were just trying it on as Silverstone sold the parking rights to a private company that just walked around ticketing car,
