1200 Help With Really Bad Noise

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Grahamducati, Oct 23, 2024.

  1. Anybody want to buy a 2014 Multistrada 1200s Touring....

    Slightly used

Lots of thinking over the next few days about what to do, gutted is an understatement

  2. Strip it down it may not be too bad or if it is buy another complete lump to put in it.

  4. at least you've investigated already yourself and have an idea now, but commiserations all the same. There is someone else on here going through (what looks like) similar failure recently.

  5. That's a real bummer - something we all dread happening.

  6. Have a crack at a rebuild, interesting and not as difficult as you may think. :upyeah:

  7. It does, however (like a few of the bolts on the belly pan) The bolts are rounded off (to be clear I never rounded them ) so I'll have to Dremel some slots to get them out

  8. It's certainly worth thinking about... It's not worth anything anyway I guess (and least the engine isn't)

  10. just had a quick look and not much around at the moment, and even then most are in the States.

  11. Is the 1200 monster engine the same? A few of those available

  12. You will have better results getting the bolts out with these.
They are a type of easyout. I found for best results drill a small hole in the bolt then tap the tool in with a hammer before turning 20240818_103411.jpg

  14. this is where we need a modern Ducati engine guru or a @nelly . I'm sure with a bit of researching most of us on here could work it out, but I just know there's gonna be lots of subtle differences

  15. As far as I know the monster engine is different but the Diavel upto 2017 is the same as the 13/14 Multistrada

But there's none of them either :joy:

  16. That’s a good shout I’d forgot about the Diavel. Keep an eye out though as they do come up.

  17. I'm afraid I cannot remember where I bought them.
I have googled and found they are called "Special Torx extractor bits"
Based on the markings on the shanks
I almost slung them in the bin but then I saw a video on Facebook from a company selling something very similar showing how to use them properly

  18. Thank you:upyeah:

  19. Thank you to everyone for their help and suggestions with the ... Financially it looks more prudent to sell it as is and put the money towards a new one

  20. Might be in the market. What sort of price would this command? Bearing in mind I wouldn’t wish to beat a fellow forum member down.
