1200 DVT Help With Starting 'ex' Accident Damaged 2015 Dvt

    Derek, that's what I've been thinking. As I have a working key now (working as in it fires up the clocks and electrics), do you think it is something a Ducati dealer can rectify, ie, reprogramming the immobiliser to

  3. I used to own a company called Z Cars ltd which specialised in building bike engined cars, Having fitted literally hundreds of bike engines into race cars from accident Crashed bikes I've never had any issues with them.
    These were from various manufacturers mainly Honda,Kawasaki and latterly Suzuki hyabusa.
    The normal ecu on any bike is pretty robust and not normally in a position where it gets physically damaged
    You sound like you have tried most stuff already and the symptoms when you turn the ignition on are similar to those of an immobiliser fault.
    However most bikes have what they call a tip over sensor which cuts the fuel pump and ignition in event of you falling off the bike.
    This can give the same symptoms
    When you turn the ignition on the fuel pump primes and then turns off which is what my Ducati does.
    If the tip over switch isn't fitted or is in its operating position I.e it's on its side it won't allow the bike to start or fire up the fuel and ignition circuits
    Bearing in mind the on board sensors fitted to the ducat is which sense lean angle etc very accurately I wonder if that unit also has the function of the old fashioned tip over sensor within it and if it has been damaged in the accident.

    On the hyabusa and various other bikes they have a specific sensor with a pendulum inside it which we used to take apart and glue in the upright position by filling the sensor so the pendulum couldn't swing
    Then when you went round corners with the engine in a car it didn't cut the motor
    I think your best bet would be to go see a ducati dealers and let them plug in the diagnostics
    With luck you will then have an answer and can tackle it directly
    The trouble is that the electronics on modern bikes and cars are massively complex and integrated to all sorts of things not normally associated with the engine running
    If you do find out what's stopping it running I would be very interested to know what it is for future reference myself for cars I'm building

    Thanks so much for that. Definitely now sounds like the immobiliser and or possibly a tip over sensor if one does exist. A trip to Ducati Cambridge is on the cards. They are really helpful and have supplied all my parts in double quick time!

    Your you tube vids look amazing, I would encourage everyone to take a peek!!!

    Just to show as well I have worked on two other multis and a pic of this one I have now. The DVT forks yokes and wheel, although looking ok there, were all smashed. Its a repaired rolling chassis now, and brand new panels have all gone into be sprayed tri color again similar to my previous 2010 bike. Bit more swirly and fancy this time though. The black one was totally smashed, a real pain! The black is actually a Kawasaki blue that looks black, but in the sunlight really pops blue metallic!

    Ha! If only it would start!!!!
