Thoroughly confused now with what to go for haha I read that the alpinestars Atem is supposed to be good and that's completely level 2 CE as well
Id want to know that someone had crashed and walked in the ones that i wear.. thats why the low volume specialist manufacturers that live and breathe motorcycle leathers and are suppliers to the forces, race teams etc would get my vote
i think the thrust of this thread is perhaps pointing out that there's a world beyond the astars and dayneez that might be worth exploring...
the atem is level 2ce ,but for me,the cuffs on the sleeve were very bulky, the neoprene on the back of the neck left me red raw after wearing for a full day and the plastic armour on the knee touched down before the slider unless the slider was positioned 20%above the velcro
Might be well worth it, to make an appointment at hide out and see what they actually make, have yourselves properly measured, that will convince you.
If I ever need leathers again, it will definitely be Hideout kit, their stuff is brilliant and Kate the owner really knows her onions regarding leathers and manufacture. I'm using Crowtree leathers, which are awesome, but unfortunately not being made anymore.
My made to measure one piece is Crowtree, although now there quite old. 2 piece I have is a very well made, m-t-m from BKS. Always wanted a set from them and saved up a long time to get them. Very happy with both. One piece was tested on a few track off's and were brill in staying together.
Have a look at the latest RST suits. I have just bought their top of the range CPX suit and its top quality.
I've had two rst and can't say I'm that happy with them. Plus I know enough people to be worried who've crashed in their suits and they didn't crash well. No offence intended

+1 for Dainese, had a leather jacket of theirs for probably 10 years, only thing to break was a leather tag of a pocket zip, had it dry cleaned recently, good as new, it looks virtually unworn. Got a waterproof textile of theirs too, same thing, getting old, nothing broke.
To contradict opinion here, I spent a grand many years ago on a dianese suit a zip ripped out not long into ownership and then had an off at Oulton on a trackday in them which split the inside seem on my thigh completely needless to say I've never touched another set since. I've had several A-Star suits since then, couple of offs over the years - Trackdays and racing and imo far better than dianese in terms of wear and safety. I also had a set of Arlen ness kangaroo skin leathers, must have crashed at least 5 times in them racing and they're still in one piece, tatty I admit but in one piece.
I guess for every single brand out there, will always be good and bad stories eh, but I must confess, really like the Arlen Ness stuff, real quality feel to it
Not if you are 6'4" and 17+ stone. Just like Held and Arc-on, it looks like you have to be anorexic and short to fit their sizing chart . Andy
