No worries mate, The model name is 1098 but it is 1099cc, I have the 848 version and that is 849cc Tuck it away till the spring which really is only around the corner.
Aaah I get ya!! Cool. Yeah I know mate bring on next year..... You storing yours now then for the winter? Might have to pick your brains tomorrow if that's alright with regards to prepping it.....? I rode the fz6 all year round as a commuter but don't need to commute anymore so this is getting looked after....
I took mine out a couple of weeks back, if the temp gets up to 10 over the weekend and it is dry then I will be going out for a ride. I don't do much in the way of prep work apart from just giving it a good clean and keep it on an optimate charger so battery don't go dead.
Ok cheers mate!! I've read a few things about fuel stabilising, battery charging, over-inflating the tyres etc but I wasn't sure if that was totally necessary if like yourself I might pop out on it every now and again...
The only thing I do regarding fuel is, I take it out, ride it normally 100 mile tank range till fuel light comes on and I put it away with minimum fuel so when it goes back out it gets a complete tank of new fuel.
Ah right is that just to prevent moisture/rust clogging etc? So I guess if it's gonna be stored for let's say a few weeks or months then a bit more prepping would be needed..?
It's only my personal preference that's all, you could ask 10 people on here the same question and they will all answer differently. The tank on the 848 is plastic so no rust will ever happen there, and if you look at things logically the more air in the tank the more chance of condensation so wouldn't it be better to leave it parked up with a full tank. If i was going to store the bike for 6 months and not ride it I would probably drain all the fluids, clutch, brake, oil and fuel. I can't say mine is the right or wrong way to do it.
Ok I see what you're saying..... I've read different views on winter storage. I just wasn't sure whether the type of bike eg. twin, inline 4 etc......made any difference. The bike wasn't cheap so last thing I want is to damage it in some way due to not storing it properly. In all honesty weather depending I don't intend on leaving it too long anyway if you know what I mean. I appreciate your comments though mate and for taking the time to answer my questions. Cheers jay
No worries Jay. I do get it ACF treated at every service though by my dealer. All the best and safe riding, I am of to my local dealer go get my new bike well to sign paperwork for it anyway. It prob won't get delivered till end of the month Vince.
Yeah I'm just about to nip upto mine. Where you based Vince? I'm going to hyside ducati in collier row Romford. If you're anywhere near let us know...I'm off to get some ACF as it happens because halfords didn't have any yesterday.
Cool. Be good to meet up with some other riders especially ducati owners... Not that it matters but I could probably learn a few things with regards to owning one. What bike have you ordered?
I've traded my 899 in for an 1199s dark stealth, looks like it will be delivered next weekend its all been prepped now.
