I wear a high viz over the top of my textiles on my daily commute now that the whole journey is in darkness. A good reason for wearing one is if I had to get off the bike, or if I came off then car drivers might still see me when not near the headlight.
I think you'd need to don the gear and post the photos in order for us to make an informed opinion. It's for your own good...
