1260 Hill Assist - How Do I Disable It?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by stevie555, Apr 30, 2019.

  1. If it doesn't release when you pull away, something is not working correctly.

  2. I rarely use it though it is extremely useful in some situations, especially when riding with a pillion.

Try using a bit more throttle when pulling away.

  3. As others have already said
It should release when you engage the clutch to pull away

If it doesn’t do that, it isn’t working correctly, get your dealer to take a look

  4. Yep, agreed it isn't working correctly. I also agree that Ducati should have given us the option to disable it completely though, especially since it can obviously act up.

  5. Thanks for all help. I'll talk to my dealer. Perhaps the dis-able option will be available in a future software update.

  6. How do you enable it? i haven't got it to work so far and i could have done with it on a couple of occasions.

  7. Just pull on the brake lever really hard when you're at a standstill .You'll get a little yellow icon on the dash to confirm its on. It'll then flash as it's about to switch off about 10 seconds later.

  8. Ok, thanks will give it a try, does it work if i do the same with the rear brake instead?

  9. Short answer, yes!

    Long answer, from the manual:
    Vehicle Hold Control (VHC)
The Multistrada ABS is provided with the Vehicle Hold
Control (VHC). This system, when activated, keeps
the vehicle at a standstill by quickly activating the rear
brake with no need to apply braking power to the
brake lever or pedal. The system allows the user to
enjoy a more comfortable restart while just having to
control the clutch and throttle pressure.
This function is activated when the user, with a bike at
a standstill and with folded side stand, applies a high
pressure on the front or rear brake levers. It can be
activated when vehicle is turned on (Key-ON). Upon
its activation, according to the vehicle status, the
system calculates and applies a pressure to the rear
system by acting on the pump and the ABS control
    unit valves.
The system can be activated at all ABS levels
(including ABS OFF) and its activation is indicated by
the following warning light turning on. The same
warning light will start blinking when the system is
about to release the rear brake pressure and thus to
stop keeping the vehicle at standstill: pressure will be
    decreased gradually.
    Note
This function is disabled when the user starts or
pulls the front brake lever twice in close sequence or
after 9 seconds from the activation, or when the user
    opens the side stand.
    Warning
The system can not be compared with a parking
brake: during its activation we recommend keeping
your hands on the handlebar in order to take control of
the vehicle as soon as the system is disabled

  10. I must admit I love it.
Over Easter I was riding some very naggery roads with all sorts of horrible steep junctions I must admit it did come in very useful.
Under normal riding I don't find it activates.
As others say the only thing I would change is the duration as 10 seconds isnt long enough.
    Desperado
