I have an HJC with the internal sun visor, it does mist up but only on cold days but it is the way your breath is directed to it by the nose bridge part. They do not mist up when you are on the move or it is a bit warmer.
Just a thot ,,, i have a welding screen which automatically dims when i start welding an d then clears when i stop, all almost instantaniously , seems would be a good idea on a helmet viisor , dont suppose anyone makes them .
I think the main issue with helmets is ventilation, or the lack or mechanical ventilation. Would it need sensors to automate, run all the time, on/off configuration. I think internal visors are a gimmick and the only way to go is with e-Tint LCD Motorcycle Visor Inserts or something like this technology. Technology is there is deal with the tinting. Again, I think ventilation is the problem. No one wants uncomfortable draughts that make your eyes water, but there needs to be something to cope with slow speeds, around town or cities. Lifting the visor and risk flies in the eye isn't an option. A quick search of google, not a lot on mechanical ventilation of helmets. Ok, pinlock seems to sort the misting, but does these so called special coatings prevent misting for the life of the visor or helmet. May be there isn't a problem and its just me. Probably. I am not rubbishing HJC, I like the helmets and I think this is an issue with other manufacturers.
on the welding helmet there is a battery powered sensor , some are replaceable , mine is non replaceable and charges auto from the light from the weld , also sun light ( not cheap and cost more than the crash helmets being discussed ), there is no on off switch tho it can be disabled to remain bright .
