yip there good, i use one in the workshop.surprised no ones incorporated them yet. maybe not shatter proof.
As far as I'm aware both HJC and Caberg lids come with antifog coatings on their standard visors, I've had both and never had any kind of issue. And yes the flip downs do fog up, but how long does it take to squirt a bit of antifog on them? @evoarrow , you said they should take them off the market cos the flipdowns fog up; are you suggesting that Arai recall all their helmets too? Cos without pinlocks they fog up as bad as any other lid. And @Chris ; I reckon HJC only did one size lid in carbon, I've got an HQ1 and the shell is massive, but my other HJC lid has a much smaller shell.
sorry Fig,am confused as that's what I reckoned as well? (i.e. one size fits all) I even have some of the 'medium' pads which are thicker than the 'large' pads and so useless for me.
I think they caught a cold on that helmet as no-one even knew it existed despite beating many competitiors at over twice the price both in the sharp tests and for overall weight (at the time). Can't complain as it's the only way i could justify buying one at £35 and another at £60.
It's a nice lid actually, worn mine all over Europe and spent many hours in it with no issues. Still looks good as new, too.
Agree that misting is a problem with helmets and it often comes on when it rains, which is pretty much that last time you want to be riding around with an open visor. The neoprene Foggy nose guards work well in the cold but are way too hot in the summer. I don't like Pinlocks as they hugely reduce the field of vision - don't know why they don't make them bigger. Not a problem most of the time perhaps but a real drag on mountain roads where you do a lot of looking up out of the corner of the visor.
Reckon its because it may foul the lid on openingf too high on the visor. Wear a beanie had Glidd, works perfect for me Intenal visors are great for summer, no need to carry two visors and easier to manage when conditions change on the move
I think it's about time the misting is sorted. Great helmets yaddy yaddy, but if they obscure vision, take them off the shelf.
HJC have sorted the misting; their standard main visors have an antifog coating that works pretty much as well as a pinlock. So do Caberg. It's about time Arai caught up, quite frankly. And both HJC and Caberg have visor mechanisms that don't make you swear out loud...
I wore an hjc! Internal visor was crap, I've said this already. I took the helmet out of the box, put it on, rode down the road and it was shite. I really don't give a shit what the helmet cost, but if it mists, it isn't getting used. Pinlock worked, which I said. It was used as a pillion lid, not now.
Asking that is my issue. Is the visor not already anti fog? I'm an idiot, I put a helmet on, I don't expect a visor to fog up. I thump the helmet trying to find the little button to open it. Half way round the corner I find it, cool. I like buying products that are designed, fit for purpose, company's spending R+D, but please don't stick a rubber dog shit on a product and ask me to accept it when it doesn't perform.
You are asking the impossible. Get real and reasonable. Bit like saying take all cars off the market because the screen gets misted
I've never had a problem with Arai visors. I've changed them frequently, dark to light and back. The process seems a little violent but I've never broken one and changing is pretty simple. They are much maligned in my view.
So basically you want an idiot-proof lid cos you can't be arsed to actually look at it before you tear off down the road in it?
My HJC with pinlock seems to suffer fogging a lot more than my Arai or AGV,i cannot wear it on colder days. This year i have purchased a reactolight pinlock and it works very well,ok it does not go black tint but it changes tint instantly and i do not feel the need to carry a spare visor and lets be honest carrying a spare on a sports bike is apita.
I don't know where you lot are buying these HJC lids from. I've had 5 of them and never had to use a pinlock or antifog spray on any of them. Caberg's antifog coating is even better. The only time I've had fogging issues is when I've bought aftermarket visors.
I use a Shoei Neotec most the time, never had the sunvisor mist, I have a pinlock, butits normally my glasses that steam up if its really cold
