Do you know if i can put my chassis number into a computer and it brings up all the details of my bike, any site or should i write to ducati
No, email Ducati customer services with your chassis number and a copy of your V5 and they will tell you what it comes back as!
In Italy. With it starting life overseas, it might not be correct on the UK systems? It only takes a couple of days for Italy to sort. mate your plans to sell, or just interested?
I can get some more made yes, but Ducati won’t give you the plaque number - they will simply say those chassis number is registered as a 1998/1997 916 SPS’ that’s it unfortunately
I am still confused what you are asking for - the homologation number is not on the plaque - and the plaque number vs chassis number are not available
The number stamped on the plate identifies that your bike was manufacture number XXX of 1 to 500 bikes for example that got the bore out from 916 to 996 cc or whatever it may have been. Isnt this batch number stamped on the plate a unique identification that the bike was 1 out of 500 in the world, that this happened too. ???
No only the Chassis Number and Engine Number identify the bike. The plaque number is a marketing nicety and isn't relevant / recorded to any particular bike. The homologation number is the same number for all the bikes...
Mike, they are not homologation numbers you are getting mixed up. every 916 or 996 SPS has a plaque on the yoke from the factory. The plaques were all allocated a unique number up to (in theory) a total of the production run of that bike. They they were randomly stuck on these bikes on production line. Thats it. So they will all be numbered differently (in theory) as every plaque had a different number on it. Those numbers were just to designate that the bike was 1 of xx produced, and bears absolutely no relation to a homologation.
