How Big Is Yours? Reg Plates.

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Not Carl Fogarty, Apr 7, 2016.

  1. That is sooo wrong.

How about a letter to your MP? Better still, you could suggest it as a campaign subject for 38 degrees etc.

  2. Was your insurance company lazy enough to accept a knock for knock settlement?

  3. My car was hit while legally parked and I was in a different town, didn't claim on insurance but notified them and my insurance went up on my car AND bike.

  4. Which is exactly why I wont be telling them mine was knocked over the other week.

Absolute parasites the lot of them.

  5. Don't think so as they did tell me on the phone "its totally his fault so it wont affect you...." yeah right 200 quid tells me otherwise....

  6. They really are sharks.

Is that watchdog programme still on TV?
I wonder if arguing might help? Complain that they said it wouldn't affect you and that you plan to complain to the ombudsman.

I think this needs it's own thread...
    @El Toro ?

  7. my argument was that if you took that to its logical conclusion, if you park up in Sainsburys and someone parks next to you and opens their car door and it marks your car, that's an accident, you should inform the insurance company and your premium goes up.

  8. In principle alone, why are those not at fault penalised. The insurance companies must be doing some funny deals behind your back.

  9. In my case I don't know who hit me, just left some nice green paint and some glass. I had nobody to claim off.

  10. I thought this was common knowledge to be honest....I was kinda expecting it - not that its right....If I was to get on my soapbox with all the problems ive had with insurance and knowing that nationally "people taking the piss" is what drives insurance premiums up for all of us...ie when our car got written off the car (with all my family in it apart from me) was hit from the side by a scaffold lorry...no one in our car developed any mysterious neck injuries. This goes for this accident that she's just had. Weve got a second car so we didn't ask for a rental (although it was in the policy)....so you try not to take the piss and what happens...

  11. Anyway, what about reg plate sizes. I will fit the tidy and see what will work, for me, may be a 'badass' plate.

  12. Yeah - sorry - back on point...actually...a stock number plate doesn't actually fit in between my SC project cans....for the mot I took the stock legal plate and cut the yellow boarder off round the edge (so the letters were actually at the edge) and it only just went inbetween....passed though...so, next year itll take me about 10 mins to get it ready for MOT...having said that this weekend I need to change a front fork seal but...Kawasaki day at Silverstone is on, on Saturday and I really shouldn't go as I'm skint but the weather is looking good...!

  13. I always have show plates made up by Design and order reflective acrylic licence number plates , giving them the minimum dimensions I can have for the correct font size, spacing and borders. I have been doing it for the past 10 years (cars and bikes) and never failed an MOT despite the fact they do not have the BS number and manufacturers details (that are only there to try to make sure plates are the right size to ensure ANPR can pick them up).

  14. All sounds about right. My renewal price from Swinton has gone up 40% despite never claiming. Now changed insurance to under the price of my previous renewal quote. At the end of the day I just get insurance to be legal on the roads. The second family car has also gone up, they told me it is because I have never claimed. Work that one out.

  15. OK, tonight I got the tail tidy fitted and the exhaust hanger fitted, so pulled off the pillion pegs. Always hated the pillion pegs.

Taped the OEM plate to the tidy, looks terrible, bit shocked how bad it looks.

    Edit- new plate ordered.

  18. Haven't had a chance to fit, been cutting hedges and grass.

    Don't mention pipes!

Evotech tail, indicators are too big now.
Evotech exhaust bracket to get rid of the pillion pegs.

Haven't decided on pipes yet. Bracket is nicely made.
