How did that happen?

  1. WTF! Exactly the same thing happened to me a couple of years ago. Went to a funeral but was cold and wet, went to be d fine but next day my back started to twinge and pain got worse overnight. Next day was in extreme pain so had to call ambulance and went to hospital. Diagnosed with Shingles !. Over next few days I was still in pain when any kind of deep breath or movement and went back to docs for check up and they said it wasnt shingles just plauratic pain (the lining of the lung dries and ends up rubbing on the inside of your chest cavity) Went away gradually in time but still get pain every so often and will keep you updated over the winter! (I am 40 now and 38 when it started). If you dont have spots or a rash around your middle or back then its unlikely to be shingles.

  2. id book early and get the ambulance on route now.......could take a while..

  3. Is it intercostal muscles that give you jip if you cough or move suddenly they can pull or tear and they hurt like a !!!
If you cough or move .
Takes just over a week for the dam things to improve.
I ripped one being sick of all things years back .
For ages after if I coughed or anything ouch!!!

AL don't wait til Weds please get checked out !!!
That doesn't sound good and if you have lung problems don't mess about and see someone Monday as emergency GP .
If its lungs they can get worse quick so please go and be checked out and do not wait til Weds!!!

  4. Sorry everyone, not dead yet.......

Chest wall sprain / rupture of muscles.

If not cleared up in a month; then it might need further investigation.

  5. Al Good to hear you are still in the land of the living.

I had the G.P called out to where I was at the time ( in my girlfriends bed) as I had stabbing pains in my chest wall area, I told the G.P that I had previously suffered a spontaneous pneumothorax, but he ignored this and said it was chest wall sprain.

A couple of hours of agony later, I'm in an ambulance being rushed into hospital to have a chest drain stuck through my chest wall as I had a spontaneous pneumothorax again!

I think what was the cause of this was me struggling to lift my Bonnie engine single handedly from my frame, won't be doing that again!

btw saw this method of transport for a funeral at the Ace cafe reunion in Brighton on Sunday, funeral side car.jpg and thought it might be of interest to an old sidecar enthusiast.

  7. I too saw the bike hearse in Brighton, and was rather taken with it. Could suit me quite well when the time comes.

  8. Attended a funeral yesterday with that hearse .
I have to say I'd want a bike one rather then a poxy car .

  9. Good to hear you're still about, take it easy and keep warm and moving, it'll hurt but not as much as sitting still!

  10. Its moving about, coughing and laughing that makes it hurt more...........and when it first happened, I needed to use the bike.......so I hauled it out of the workshop (phew! Felt that) and went for the blast.....Didn't hurt when I was ridning it.

Its easing a bit now, but it catches me out when in certain positions when I'm working; or doing something simple like turning over in bed.

  11. Glad it's getting better! As it didn't hurt when on the bike perhaps you should be out riding more!!!

  12. Yeah right.......................I assume you living up there in the Tropic of Norfolk haven't been outside for a few days............

..........it's bl**dy freezing and wet down here..........

  13. A few more days and it will have sorted itself out.
First time I did it (the worst) it was bloody painful - and I had to take an overnight train from Switerland to the Côte d'Azur a couple of days later. Getting out of the couchette was no fun!

  14. Couchettes?

F***ing awful vegetable, as bad as marrows.
