How Much Does Yours Weigh?

Discussion in 'Supersport (1974-2007)' started by richgilb, Sep 19, 2015.

  1. Mmmmm, shall I own up now or wait ........ it has a full RS engine running 1098/848 injectors in deristricted throttle bodies, 54mm full race system and a Power Commander, oh yes and a full tune by Steve Moore at Moto Rapido. Happy to make your acquaintance for a bit of fun but sadly not this year. I'm struggling with a middle finger left hand flexor tendon injury that is probably going to need surgery but when I'm fixed I would love to. What's the noise limit at Cadwell ? It needs to be 105db static for me to pass. Andy

  2. I'll still pass you if you are packing that sausage next year!

  3. badass....i reckon i could beat you. paticularly if you run crossplies

  4. Thanks!
Always nice to meet up with other Ducatisti, specially 2V owners that tries to improve their bikes.

  5. Trouble is, it's not just the sausage :Arghh:. The mind is willing, the body is weak .......... way too weak. Andy

  6. image.jpg I haven't weighed mine but I reckon it's got be be one of the lightest on the road. It's significantly lighter than my Monster S4 which itself has had an awful lot stripped off it.
    • No fairings
    • Most of the rear subframe removed
    • No seat unit (just a Panigale seat pad)
    • Both OE exhaust cans and some of the RHS pipe work removed. Stubby carbon fibre end can fitted.
    • Rear hugger removed
    • Mirrors removed and replaced with bar end mirrors
    • Front light replaced with much smaller and lighter unit
    • Clocks etc removed and replaced with 3" speedo only.
    • Rear lights replaced with tiny "button" LED
    • Aluminium number plate hanger (basically just a bent strip approx 8"x2.5")

  7. How are you weighing them?

  8. Bathroom scales, one wheel at a time for me. Seems to concur exactly with the airport scales at Leeds Bradford. We always weigh our luggage on them to avoid problems checking in

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  9. Off the side stand presumably?

  10. Ha yes! You'd have to check the weight under the side stand too if you did it that way. Also I am no scientist but I put a piece of wood under the other wheel the same height as the scales to make sure the proper weight distribution on a flat surface is mimicked

  11. I'm thinking weigh the front while the rear is held steady on rear paddock stand, then reverse?

  12. I worry that you are adding a few kg by lifting it onto a paddock stand. I got a U in physics o level but I think the lower wheel takes a bit more weight than the upper wheel. Shoot me down if I am talking arse though.

  13. I'll get the missus to pick it up and stand on the scales.
Subtract one from the other - Bingo!

  14. Make sure she has had a massive mudout first then. What am I on about. That makes no difference

  15. 746g off my nose this morning. The TRIOM lights on the 1000DS have a plastic lens cover. The older ones are glass. So I got myself one for £40 delivered. Easy win compared to making an alloy front sub. Although I don't rule this out either![IMG][IMG]

  16. Probably pretty light before I get on it haha

  17. And 1kg off my tail too. The seat unit was the same weight as the original. The weight is saved in the loss of the grab rail[IMG]

  18. Here's the easy way to find out what the bike weighs.......

....look up the stock weight in the Owner's Handbook.......

....then work out the weight of what you have taken off the bike and what you have fitted.......

..........add to or subtract from the stock weight.

Or just do what I inadvertantly did.........forget the weight of the bike and drop your own weight from 13 stone to 9.5 stone in a year.........now that's weight loss for you..........and I wasn't even fat.

  19. I see you need the pillion footrest hangers to support the cans but could you not remove the pegs?
