  2. Yes he worked for Bristow Helicopters, as did I at the time. I'd been working in Nigeria for a few years and met him while I was on temporary detachment from my normal operating base in Lagos and Warri, a few weeks before the incident. A relatively young pilot ( mid to late thirties) with a wife and children. Very sad back story to this which I'm not at liberty to talk about.

  3. How many years ago? ... 1941 ish? :)

  4. Yep, bad news. Thought you might have known him. Bristows got the gig here about a year back. Good outfit…

  5. Well they are the longest standing operator offshore, having enjoyed being the only kid on the block for several years, but of late they have been overwhelmed by the competition, themselves much leaner and fitter companies with a younger and less bloated management structure. Bristow have spent too much time resting on their laurels and their arrogance has come back to bite them, with the likes of NHV and other players, who are match fit and better placed to steal some of the more lucrative contracts from the old guard.

  6. the father in law was an Army helicopter pilot and worked for private operations. Bond, PDG the police excreta. he was in a few accidents one of which resulted in an attempted murder case when sugar was found in the fuel after he ditched going over Glencoe. he used to park them in their garden over night. he was forever offering to take me up. i was forever declining.
    nope, not happnin.

  10. Well Caverton got booted off this gig overnight. Bristows have been 10 times better. We get nice air conditioned S76’s and EH135’s now. S92’s for the longer stuff.

  11. Bond had a couple of incidents when I was in the North Sea. Terminal was the wrong side of the airfield n’all… Dyce, I’m on about…
