How To Remove Front Wheel Spindle Triumph Sprint St995i

Discussion in 'Other Bikes' started by CRYSTALJOHN, Nov 10, 2014.

  1. That's exactly the problem Fig. My 18" 1/2 drive breaker bar flexes too much to provide the necessary 'Crack'.

I will have the bastard undone one way or another, that's guaranteed.

  2. Do you not have a scaffold pole to act as an extension?

  3. trumpet.JPG trumpet.JPG Tried again today this time with a fork stanchion added to the wrench bar, now the bloody things a yard long, still wasn't having it.
Pumped up the tyre with my foot pump, stuffed the pump under my jacket and rode to Bol D'or motorcycle repairs in the pissing rain. He got a giant torque wrench on the job and jumped on the end which undid it . He is. Triumph specialist 40 years experience and said he had never had one that tight.
No corrosion on the spindle or fork leg , it all looked perfect, nicely greased too. Looks like someone had over tightened it big time!

Dave refused to take any payment for this, said it was a pleasure to help a fellow Triumph enthusiast, What a gent!

Here's his website, some beautiful bikes in there. He even started up the Triton for me to have a listen. Worth a look, Triumph Speed Triple front and rear grafted on to a Featherbed.

  4. If it's any consolation at all, I had no trouble getting the spindle out of my Sprint 1050...
