  1. I use the train if the roads are crap in the winter because I'm based in the Lake District but live in Bedford and it costs £80 for the return ticket (£100 in fuel if I drive) and takes about 3.5 hours (4.5 hours if I drive) and don't hit any major hold ups. On the return home on a Friday afternoon I'll have a couple of cans and read a book with the only downside being that I can't have a smoke but there's usually a couple of changes where I leg it out of the station and spark one up. What's not to like about that?

    Once or twice its all gone tits up and trains have been cancelled but I use the trainline app on my phone to find another way south and get there eventually though I'm usually pissed by the time I get home after having a pint in every station bar.
