Hypermotard 1100 Evo Sp Rebuild.

Discussion in 'Hypermotard' started by comfysofa, Mar 29, 2018.

  1. Amazing. Having a full set of tools (and the special tools) meant he pulled it to pieces in a couple of hours. When I asked him I think he said he's rebuilt in excess of 50 of this type of motor....

Outcome: crank is shot, he has as spare but needed to check to see if its weighted correct, and if not send it to be balanced. He did say that it may be cheaper to source as crank on the net as they come usually with rods.

Next: crankcases, barrels, heads and as few bits are in my car ready to the to the coaters. Half considering getting the exhausts done....black may look better than a polished finish...

Going to go for a titanium finish on the engine.

Parts spend not including the crank will be about 400 ish. The main bearings are and older type (there's an upgraded part) so I'm happy about that....

The moment I'm guessing about 1.5 to 1.7k roughly but.....I'll have, literally a brand new engine newly coated whichll be resistant to everything....

  2. If you can get all in for under 2k that’s a great result :upyeah:

  3. What faild on the crank, main, big end?

  4. Are you any wiser as to the cause.

  5. The bearings will have a number on either the black plastic side or the metal edge - this is all you need to order them from a bearing supplier - I recently replaced all the bearings on my trials bike!

  6. I believe the cause is likely to be found inbetween the handlebars and the seat, if the rumours are to be believed.

  7. petrol tank?

  8. Sorry, missed this....cause: Breakdown of communications essentially. I dropped the cases off with the receptionist and said "can you get him to run it through the parts washer as there might some residual grit in there..." Now, at the time he was busy ( i never even got to see him ) i was kinda champing at the bit to get it back together, i rang up a few days later and it was done, went to collect and that was that....it didnt get parts washed. Grit got into the crank and the rest is history....

  10. Yep - sure ive said before...i always wanted to sort out the shitty paintwork on the motor....assuming the crank hadnt gone with the damage incurred....the bill for doing the coating would be the same minus the crank and rods...if anything the replacement of the main bearings with the updated design will make the motor more reliable...

  11. Every cloud and all that.

  12. General question gents....anyone stripped the fuel pump down to its component bits?? i want to get the base part coated....Ive just seen the corse dynamics aftermarket billet fuel pump base (lovely bit of kit) but an eyewatering 300 doollars...and would still probably corrode given the environment its going to be in...
