1200 DVT I Dropped The Multi :-(

  1. Repair, there's a guy near me in Berkshire who does all the small repairs for the local BMW dealers, I used him on an LC resto project, very good work
    They are when they start to go, my garage was full of shite and I pushed the bike in backwards and lost my balance, instead of crashing against the concrete block wall it landed on some stacked up cardboard boxes I'd put there the day before, what a touch.
    Took some picking up though even in a state of panic, they are incredibly heavy
     
  2. Feel for you, dropped my enduro it bobbed into a deep pothole that I wasn't paying attention too & fell away from me. Broken hand-guard & few scratches & pride knocked. But the side-stand scenario I've had worse!! I always watch it deploy now.

  3. The only time I drop mine is in a cr park full of other multi riders :rolleyes:

    Actually, that caused zero damage as the railing it wedged against was on the rear rail :):upyeah:

    You'd think I'd drop it all the time if you ever saw me getting on and off....:astonished::confused:

  5. Need to do deadlifts to train for picking up dropped bikes.
     
  6. I distractedly dropped my 999 onto a side-stand I hadn't actually deployed a couple of months ago :(
    Sheer determination allowed me to drag it back upright - I was NOT about to let it drop...

  7. Don't bother to get it repaired. Just get a new hand guard. Big heavy Bikes are designed to fall over when not moving. A few marks arnt the end of the world and if you drop it again you not going to be so gutted.

  8. I guess we're all different, I couldn't ride round on a bike with obvious damage and a constant reminder that I've cocked up at some point

  9. Depends on the bike. I'd expect to see an enduro with some battle scars. Nothing too serious, but that sort of bike should be able to go on its side without £2k of damage. The mult is obviously a different kettle of fish altogether though and I wouldn't want to ride around on one with a ton of damage.
     
  10. I've had new bikes and managed not the drop them but it's always a bit of a worry. Bought my crappy gs1150 and for first time in 20 years dropped it at a contra flow. Picked it up and carried on and you couldn't tell any difference which makes it more attractive to ride all year round as it's robust enough to shrug off these thing. The 749 I boughtisnt mint and has some very slight damage from where it looks to have gone over off the sidestand but you have to look closely. If it's really obvious on a minty bike it's going to stick out like dogs balls which can see will be annoying

  11. Make sure to check the bolts/nuts etc on that side and tighten them as necessary. Various things came loose on mine a while after laying it down on its right. Brake pedal, right luggage connector etc.
