Yeah, the 848/1198 without the electronics are just so much more direct. I also prefer the older long stroke motors, they just feel gruntier even if they probably aren’t. The 899 was a better bike than the 848 when it comes to the stop watch and ease of use but that’s not the only thing that matters

 

My 1098R feels "gruntier" than anything else I've ever ridden.
