  1. If you were going to use it off road, and why not, then its weight would be important

  4. Would be quite easy to do, forks shock ,S/A and wheels from a dualsport. Few brackets and some high level pipes, oh and some MX bars. Smaller headlamp, rear gender and handlebar guards from any Enduro accessory shop

  6. Don't understand your point or why you'd need too. It would be lighter than a BMW GS or KTM, if you wanted lightweight you'd buy a CRF or similar. If you got a M900 then it would have more grunt than you could use on 99% of green lanes. I used to green lane a XR600 and it was a handful. These would be good desert sleds, as such are more for posing in the UK than using. If I were to go back to CA or Oz, then that would be different
     
  7. Yes you can. Take a 180kg std monster down to 165 without too much of a radical use of parts. Battery can be 3kg, take a disc and caliper off thats 5kg or maybe more. Then junk the heavy cans and have nice 2:1 theres another few...

    And lighter is always better if you're picking the bugger up...so I'm told lol
     
  8. You'll loose out with spoked wheels, enduro tyres, longer forks, longer swinging arm, etc. You could easily make an alloy subframe to save a few grams. But at the end of the day its going to be a street special. I think I'd be using a XT750 Super Tenere front end with twin disks, and the rear wheel out of the same. As for the battery, you going for a kicker conversion as wellk

  10. How the hell did weight become an issue? It's a special, it'll never see the dirt.

  13. Wouldnt even know where to start..not sure hammers, gaffa tape and cable ties would manage that
     
  14. Not too sure I'd want one but it would be easy to do. The hardest part would be the swinging arm. Lengthen the original or get something else to fit, if you had an early M series Monster with the hoop then modifying a MX or say XT 750 Super Tenere arm would be quite an easy job.

    I keep thinking about insurance, who would do cover. I'm sure someone would as chops can be covered.....
     
  15. I saw a chappy who converted his Monster into off roader. Cracked the cases are they a stressed member after just one visit to the dirt. Looked pretty though

  16. Fabulous looking bike in the second photo, I really like that.

    Matt, I believe has picked up on the most critical point, not fit for purpose, if the cases are damaged when the bike is subjected too the kind of stresses that off roading would generate!
     
  17. Ducati, please build that, get it on sale below £7k and call it the dirt classic. Watch those till bells ring! thats got 'seller' written all over it.
     
  18. As has been said i reckon over here it wouldnt see the dirt, over in the states etc it may be a different matter but here it would be a sunday blaster.
    As far as i know theyre made by a company in America but im sure it wouldnt take much doing to make one up, as ever though probably more to it than meets the eye.
    Gotta be worth a go at some point :upyeah:
