On a small bike, the straights get in the way. On a big bike, the corners get in the way. Another reason for less power
Still handy to have a bit a poke to get past fatty on the Z10. But, the next session is always another story... Yup- corners is where the truth lies....I don't actually even give a toss about the overall lap times, i often roll right off (out the line) on the straights to clear any traffic...If I can then hit the next corner later/faster/with more knee melting orgasmatonicness....Then that's good for me...
Thought was on the pic. Yes, 899 cup but same times with 848. And I'd bet yours would put-drag an 849 Point really is that it's easy to blame power, spend a load of money then find you're barely quicker, if quicker at all. Get the right habits then practice
Get corners right especially on the exit and having less power but being faster half way up the next straight is more fun.
And then keep doing it at each corner until Mr 'I have more power than you' realised he needs to learn to ride better.
Book yourself onto a few trackdays (relatively close together) at one local circuit and get to know the circuit and bike intimately. take up some instruction early on the day so you can practice thruout the rest of the day. I instruct in cars and we have the same problems with people not being able to sit where they theoretically could be in said vehicle. Repetition is the key, but it's not going to work unless you do it regular enough to be able to feel the gains and analyse where you are losing ground. Many people do trackdays every other week and so keep their skills honed and to the fore. Have a read of the articles on the site below, not just aimed at hardened trackday/race gods, but everybod! https://lifeatlean.com
@Cream_Revenge BTW check out that site above for tyre wear questions.... Cold tear, drop pressures Be careful who you listen to....
My last (2nd) track session was a tutorial day at Blyton park on the multi. Learned a lot. Big thing was track position...it changed as I went faster. May seem obvious to you and others with experience but was a revelation to me. So turn in point changed, ran wider later etc etc. So what might be the right line at 80 mph, will be SO different at 90. I'm behind you on skill but 'think' that greater margins are to be had on track positions/hitting the right apex to match the speed. Your plenty quick looking at the vid, and could easily pass the fat fast powerful bike in the corners lol
That looks really interesting website. If I start reading it on the sofa on a Friday night wife's going to get in a right hump!

Only thing I'd say is the fella who writes it has no background in racing or tuition. Just a fella like you that documented and blogged stuff and had copied (like tyre stuff) from other sites
And I have never raced a car yet I instruct people to drive up to race pace on the Nurburgring. Strange!!
But you have spent years instructing, this fella hasn't. Not dissing him, I used to read his stuff and am on his email list, just that he is at the novice end IMHO and his experiences limited. Its a good reassure and read tho.
