Like I said in the post, I hope it doesn't have a sad ending for the OP.. there's a difference between a clerical error and someone deliberately re stamping or otherwise applying a different frame/chassis number to a vehicle.
Fingers crossed. No attempt had been made to remove or mask the original original frame number. It had been largely obscured by overzealous powder coating. Once I have heard back from Duke UK, I will send off the V5 and hope for the best. I will let everyone know the happy or catastrophic news!!!
Great news!! I have heard back from ducati and its an early 748SP frame and running gear with a 996SP engine. I had quite a bit of to-ing an fro-ing with DVLA culminating in a "case". I provided all sorts of evidence and photographs and it was a shit show but I recently received an updated V5 with the frame and engine numbers noted. What a relief. I was ready for all eventualities inc it was stolen, or a Q plate... Anyway, here i am, kosher..
Oooops faux pas... Ill take another photo when it returns with neew rubber and forl seals.... Good bin though...
