Glad you had a goodtime! Jerez or Portimao next? 1, 2 and 3 were always my favorite turns. 6, 7 and 8 are tricky, but ace once you find the line. I learnt to keep well clear of less confident riders on that part!
Portimao prob. But Almeria again is likely as it was a great event, the hotel was brilliant and Mojicar is a lovely town. I also need to work on my core. I need to get fitter.
Great! Glad you enjoyed it! Sounds like you had a great time. It also sounds like you've been well and truly bitten by the track bug... Nowt wrong with that When it happened to me and I sacked road riding (I couldn't afford both), the cost differential wasn't that big- factor in no more tax, test, insurance and a dollop of man maths If it's just the euro stuff you're interested in (and it's the best) you can even coax the Mrs with sun, sea, sand and well, booze. If you carry on, lap times will become a thing of interest.... But remember, you'll never be top dog.... But you'll be having just as much fun out there as top dog.... Here, have a butchers through this. The slippery slope to divorce Just kidding... https://www.racefoxx.com/
Cheers Lairy. I also NTRTFM (Need to read the fucking manual) I had EBC on 1 as I thought that was ON. It wasnt. I discovered this Day 4 ffs. On EBC 3 (ON) it was alot smoother on/off throttle and I had less rocking, also sometimes used to get a pulse which pushed the front on closed throttle on EBC1 which evaporated on 3.
Yup - You see a lot of fecked riders after day 1. Push bike is great for leg fitness, also the static ski exercises. You defo get more from the event if you can up the ole fitness and stamina.
My legs are fine coz I walk to work and back every day. I also go for walks with Mrs Boots. Legs are okay. It was my core I needed. My arms and shoulders are ok as I do 20 push ups daily whilst I wait for the toaster to pop at work. Been doing this since Lockdown 1. Fixed my frozen shoulder that did. Its my core that I need to work on. Did a 1m plank yesterday. That was fucking hard and on 01.00.01 I collapsed. Boy thats tough. Ill do those daily too. Im still relatively slim. 5'8" and 11st naked. I could lose 0.5 to 1.0st from my mini pot belly and waist. I'm not too bad for 56yrs old. Compared to some of the zepellins there. Stretches and aerobics for me too. As an ex northern souler and raver, I love dancing. I could just start that up again. This time without the amphetamines and E. Havent touched that for >25yrs and dont need it. I love dancing, its fun. No, Im no John Travolta but its great excercise.
Yup, you need EBC on a closed throttle to tighten the turn... trust the front! Watch Crafar's vids. They're excellent. I took some coaching from him round there (expensive but very good). Watching his vids is just as good and a lot cheaper. I think he was €500 He towed me round for my first sub 1'50"
Have you been there? I didn't like it. To be fair though if you can gel with the layout, it is smooth and grippy....
I wondered over there once when at Almeria. Looked twisty and hilly. Just going for the pre-season shakedown. It's cheap and four days on track is way more than I can really manage.
It’s a ribbon of tarmac through a moonscape. No run off- anywhere iirc. And a tightening radius corner (why?) before the long straight. Couldn’t get that right Some lads liked it, and you might too. Enjoy It may be better now. It wasn’t quite finished when I went. I had to actually stop and put my boot down to figure out which way to go on my first out lap As usual, I wasn’t paying attention at the briefing. Apparently it was explained there… but I wasn’t the only dopey twat to do it
Jez McWilliams took me out round Brno. Before we set off he asked me 'you ok for the full 20 minutes?' 'Yeah, sure!' I replied. Following him for 20 minutes was bloody hard work and I was delighted to see the end of session flag. And I thought I was fairly fit.... Got a pb though iirc and leapfrogged all my mates on the timing screen which was fun. For a while
The Andalucia track has undergone major revision since you saw last it. Versatile, similar to Silverstone, in that you can make 4 or 5 different circuits and clockwise/anticlockwise. Used a lot for car racing and car testing when we were there in May. Andy
