I'm At Almeria For 4 Days

Discussion in 'Trackdays & Rider Skills' started by Android853sp, May 9, 2022.

  1. Been a few times now. Not an easy track to learn, but as it comes together the smiles get bigger.

  2. I'd like to do Aragon but first Ive got to learn Almeria. I just got hang of it by day 4. Day 1 and 2 were spent wobbling scared of binning the bike. Day 3 I eventually figured out the one line. Day 4 I'd got my mojo and was just getting into the swing and it was over.

Prior to this I'd not ridden my bike in 18mnths due to covid apart from an hours blat.

Now Ive prepped a track version so if it goes in litter, meh. Ive come to terms with it as a track tool now, so I can be more committed. I'd go tomorrow if my mates would, but they cant. So back again next yr...ffs...

  5. Lol, it says 'advanced'....I'll look into it methinks, but I am a mobile chicane atm. Took me till day 2 to stop looking over my freakin shoulder into every turn ffs. Its instinctive.

  6. We’re doing Almeria in May next year with BBS Eurotracks, 4 days open pit lane, max 50 riders, mixed ability. Not cheap, 5 nights, half board (flights not included), pick up in Wokingham, Berkshire. Might be a place left if you are interested. Andy

  7. When in May is it?

  8. Monday 8th to Thursday 11th.
    The timetable looks like :
Bike and kit drop off in Wokingham, Berkshire (M4 J10, A339M is the easiest for ‘out of towners’) late afternoon/early evening the week before (usually the Wednesday).
You arrive at the hotel in Mojácar Playa on Sunday 7th.
Monday morning, arrive at the circuit about 8:30am to unpack your bike and kit. The circuit is open from about 10:30am until 5pm.
Tuesday and Wednesday, the circuit is open from 10am until 5pm.
Thursday, the circuit is open from 10am until 4pm. You pack your bike and kit after the circuit closes at 4pm.
The circuit closes for lunch from 1pm ‘til 2pm every day.
We usually stay the Thursday night as well for a leisurely trip back to the UK on Friday 12th, although some do pack up a bit earlier and fly out on the Thursday.
Bike and kit pick up is usually the next Monday or Tuesday from 6pm in Wokingham, so the 16th or 17th.
    Andy

  9. Cool, thanks for the detailed reply, Andy. All sounds pretty down the line. Do they do live timing?
I know the hotel, it’s nice. As is Mojacar. I’d definitely be up for a leisurely saunter home. Maybe even go out a day or two early too. If the dates work I’ll go for it. Can you do a road trip in your van and just pay for track time? Or do have to buy the full package??

  10. No live timing I’m afraid although some coaching is available FOC. Jake is a great track rider and a good coach but it is not his day job, if you get my drift. If they are not fully subscribed by the shut off date, I’m sure it's a possibility but it’s their call. Andy

  13. Thanks Brad, Im not far left. Just left of you. I'm actually pretty centre left. In that I care about social issues and people who need help. If thats loony left, well so be it. :p

I can actually afford to run two ducati's and a VW bus and 2 cats. My mortgage is paid. I have zero debt. Plus I have a daughter and granddaughter who think I am the central bank. I'm not wealthy, but I'm not destitute either.

Posh toffs? Meh. I have no problem with normal wealthy people. Its the super rich I take issues with. People who have earnt their money is fine by me.

  15. The one Andy is talking about Boots is normally low user, so higher cost, but everything I hear says it’s far better than the usual NL, FE type events as more track time and more space. Get on it; you can afford it :upyeah:

  18. Almeria is a good track, it will always be 'special' to me as it's where I made the first big step with my riding, I think over 3 days there I took 25 seconds off my lap times and then since then I've probably got on average another 10 seconds a lap faster so I'd like to go back there as by that logic I'm at lap record pace haha (jokes!)

I'm also told Andalusia is nice and really fast, but tbh Almeria isn't a slow track, especially how fast you run onto the back straight.

I'm off to Cartegena in November, that will be my last track day stuff this year, and tbh probably my last until summer at least in 2023, I'm properly battening down the hatches after this winter.
