Brakes are fine now, don’t know whether they’ve been a bit glazed, but today’s effort seems to have sorted them out. Trip cut short as I couldn’t refuel. DP petrol cap refused to budge, had to take the whole thing off to break the vacuum. I’ve oiled it up to see if it will help. Otherwise. I can only speak as I find. Power is a significant jump from the 999. I had a fleeting moment of, ‘it’s not too bad’ then it hit the 9k mark and took off. I’ve a conscious feeling of trying to put my weight over the front to keep it down, but plenty pawing and shimmying about when it’s at full chat. For those of us never having had a QS, I kept shutting the throttle between up shifts and wondering why the bike was lurching about... Finally worked it out. Love the upshift roar as it cuts in. What’s been more of a revelation is the handling. I found myself using less braking today and using more of the engine braking. Just much smoother all round and I could get on the power earlier out of the corner. I’ll stop at that. I’m sure not many want to know the differences between a 999 and a Panigale. All I’ll say is that I wasn’t convinced there would be such a jump and a few years ago was still a bit old school about ‘all that intrusive tech.‘ I’m no riding god and need all the help I can get, so as far as I’m concerned, bring it on. Tech me up.
