V4 Indicator Fault

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by SteveE, Mar 9, 2023.

  1. Update - Ducati have authorised replacement of the indicator switch unit so we’re just booking it in for the work to be completed

  2. I have this exact problem. Did it get in their system as a “thing” do you know? I thought I’d messed up the tail tidy install…maybe I have..

  3. They’ve recognised the problem and authorised a replacement of the switch unit which has been completed and I reckon improves the problem by about 50%_70%. Apparently the units fitted to the Rallye model are better and are probably going to be the standard item across the range. That’s what the dealer told me. Im working out whether I can live with the new improved performance.

  4. Its interesting what you said about being gentle with the switch. Ill have to try that too but when its not coming on you naturally just push a bit harder! It is distracting.

  5. I have exactly the same issue. Thought I was going mad! Whilst out Sunday I hit the switch about 3 times in succession and no right indicators! I'm going to report it tomorrow and call my Duc dealer. Thx. Mines a Multi V4S.

  6. is it worth giving its squirt of silicon?

  7. Not sure if it makes a difference but you could always pop open the switchgear and check for any obviously loose or corroded contacts (not impossible even on a new bike or perhaps a bad batch from the switch manufacturer). Personally I would not recommend silicone spray as it does nothing for curcuit integrity. You are better off using a proper contact cleaner and smearing all the exposed contacts and any soldered joints with dialectric grease which will ensure continuity and also protect the switch by inhibiting any future corrosion. Have any posters on this thread experienced this after washing their bikes or riding in heavy rain?

  8. My V4-PP (April, 2023) has exactly the same issue: indicating left is fine, but indicating right whilst riding is a "lottery". Half the time it simply dosen't come on. Even "cancelling" and repeating the cycle makes no difference. Feels like a loose connection ? Will alert it to the dealer for a fix as it can be quite dangerous in heavy traffic and many other situations.

Certainly sounds like a systemic fault though based on above comments.

  9. They changed my switch unit and relay to no avail. My specific issue is now recognised by Ducati Italy and more parts have been authorised for change out. I’ll keep you updated. The recognised channel is to log as a complaint on their website.

  10. @SteveE Just wondered if this issue ever got resolved . My PP has a similar ish issue, in that the the RH indicator will randomly self cancel for no apparent reason (setting is Manual-Off), thought I was going mad but then started to monitor it and it happens quite often, a bit disconcerting to other road users and me, so needs sorting, bike has done nearly 30k, so maybe the switch is worn out .

  11. they always seem bit hit and miss the self cancelling indicators. and FYI, my menu up/down button on LHS switchgear won't go down on my RS. dropped into dealer and they ordered whole new LHS switchgear this weekend

  12. Auto cancel off means the indicators self cancel. Manual off means you have to cancel. Totally not intuitive. Andy

  13. Yes, sorry, I should have phrased that better, now edited, it is indeed set to Manual-off, so they shouldn't cancel automatically :bucktooth:

  14. My 2024 new Multi V4s is doing exactly the same, left is fine but right is hit or miss as to whether it activates, I raised this at the 1st service and they said they would check it out and they never fedback to me and I forgot at the time ( 2 weeks ago ) I'm gonna chase it up and I'll let you know how I get on.
It certainly feels unsafe and has confused a few other motororists as I think I'm signalling to realise I'm not!
