Information about my 900SS 2011

  1. I'm assuming that if i change the front sprocket to a 14T I can keep the same stock chain, If i leave the front as 15T and change the back from 37T to 39T (which from what I undrestand should be roughly the same change in performance, will the stock chain still fit? How much would I need to move the wheel forward so it fits? or would I have to change the chain?

  2. Thank you very much for this link it actually helped a loT!! turns out If i put a 39 on the back I need to move the wheel .5 inch forward, and if I put a 14 on the front then a .14 of an inch back.

I'ma go take a look how much room I have to play with, I'd prefer to move to 15/39 than a 14/37.

  3. I have left my sprockets as the stock items......

I learned a long time ago, the more you fiddle and change things from stock settings, the more likely other issues will crop up.....

  4. I thought I'd just let you guys know that my NGK spark plugs came, and I was really surprised about the difference in performance, The engine runs a lot smoother, an even deeper sound to it now, and performs a lot smoother/nicer at lower rpm's.

Before I could run the bike at about 3.5k quite smoothly on any gear, under that it would get a little bit 'choppy'.

Now with the new plugs I can run it at around 2.8-3k smoothly no 'choppiness'.

    Thanks for the suggestion!

  5. Glad you chose NGK, in my book the best.

  6. I put NGK platinum's in mine earlier this year and the difference was absolutely epic, especially the reduction in vibration.

  7. Hi all. Nice to come back here and see what changes have happened since when I got the bike. I have since

Opened up the airbox abd put a new k&n air filter
New k&n oil filter and oil change
    Remus straight through perfurated exhausts
    Power commander usb 3

I now just need to custom map the pc.

The pipes look good but are longer than originals as the link pipes are longer. But I can feel the bike "feeling" a lot better without that backpressure and it sounds amazing.

Let me know what you think.

Sorry about how dirty it is.. weather is bad and hard to keep it clean as I commute with it daily.

  8. Back. I think I might have to turn the link pipe on the left exhaust as I think its slightly lower than the right.

  9. Other side.

Now I just have to replace the brake pads. Custom map the pc. And I want to open up the clutch with just a leg protector.

    Comments? Suggestions?

  10. You could of course shorten the cans fairly easily..........

.........but if you like leaving the ends in garage when you are five miles down the road, don't bother......

  11. Thanks Al

I thought of that, but I dont mind how they look :) I can keep the garage warm with the exhaust so when I get home ill be nice and warm haha...

To shorten them I would been to shorten the link pipes, I have no equipment for this :S and no cash to buy new link pipes. Quite happy these fit actually haha. I paid £100 for both pipes and links theyre remus, not bad?

  12. Leave the link pipes alone........Look inside the outlet end cap with a torch.....if you can see a perforated pipe coming straight into the cap, you should be able drill out the rivets of outlet end cap, pull the cap out, cut down the can with a hacksaw (if you can cut straight, but mark it with tape first.....apart from gving you a line to cut to, it saves the good part of the can from a slipping hacksaw) then cut an equal appropriate amount off the perforated pipe, put the end caps back in, drill and re-rivet.

You may have to trim off a bit of packing before you put the caps back on, but personally I would just stuff it in further......the more dense the packing, the louder the exhaust note.

  13. I picked up a set of remus / ducati performance £140 and they fitted straight on and look almost standard

your bike should be quiet with exhaust outlets 2 time zones behind you though
