Initial Impressions Arai Rx7 Gp

  1. TT600, just looked at that advert, could you tell me if that coma is in the wrong place on that particular helmet ?
Bloody hell what a price :astonished:

  2. Yeah, it's a lot of cash for a carbon helemt, I'd be scared to wear it.

I only really have race reps on display in my home office. I wear a plain black RX-7 GP every day. I also have a non-metallic black RX-7 GP which I ordered specifically from an Arai 5 star dealer and took 6 months to arrive. The standard black helmets are metallic.

  3. I have the RX-7 GP and the RX-7V. The RX-7V is the better of the two in my opinion, better visor removal/re-fixing and quieter. However, it does feel a bit bigger/heavier and has a more rounded shape.

  4. I have an Arai RX7 Corsair that's getting on a bit now so I tried an RX7V but the sizing is different.

I've had a few RX7 variants up to the Corsair and always found them an excellent fit but the RX7V is much smaller, so much smaller that I couldn't get one to fit - I have a big head but the XL is a perfect fit in older RX7 variants but I couldn't even get the RX7 on my head due to the opening being smaller and I'm told they don't make an XXL.

  5. The shell sizes of Arai are different depending on the size. A lot of other manufacturers have the same shell size with extra internal padding to fit the wearers head.

IIRC, Arai shell sizes are -
    • XS & S - Same
    • M & L - Same
    • XL & XXL - Same.
I have bought an XXL before and fitted XL internals. However I can't get an L over my melon sized cranium as the opening is too small.

  6. where did you get that helmet stand from if you dont mind me asking?

  7. I bought the glass sheets from eBay. A motorcycle shop was selling them off at the time and I bought the last. But they are similar to these.

I had to hunt about for the connectors but got them from a shop fitting company.

  8. And he would need a hole in the ceiling :)

  9. There is that too. :) I've a couple I can't display at the moment. Maybe in the next man cave. :upyeah:

  10. I am worried there may actually be decapitated heads in those lids........

  11. Of course they have heads in them, what would be the point of displaying them otherwise? :Nailbiting:

  12. I really fancy one of these. I have a Qantum ST but i haven't been impressed with the quality of the lettering on the back, after about 6 months all the arai/helmet type lettering disappeared.

Don't know whether to go for one of these or a Carbon Shark helmet.

  13. @Bazz - if your helmet is only 6 months old I would take it back and ask for your money back or a replacement.

  14. It's 18 months old now. I did take it back to the shop when it happened but they said it didn't warrant a replacement as that happens and said i must have cleaned it wrong. I suppose i should of pushed really but couldn't be bothered with the hassle at the time.

I went and had a look at helmets the weekend and came across the new shoei x-spirit 3. Really liked the look of it and was comfy too, so went ahead and ordered one, should hopefully get my mitts on it this week! My first shoei, looking forward to seeing what it's like.
