I've been quoted £221 for renewal by Ducati (Rameses) insurance which is £15 cheaper than LY. Having seen lower now might have a quick shop around before takiing up this one. Age 62 max NCD garaged no roadside assistance but that covered with Ducati extended wty which I purchased last Dec - takes me up to June 2013 full wty cover Legal cover personal injury cover
I could be wrong on this but I was under the impression that the 3rd year was only for bike repairs/defects it does not cover brakedown/recovery or roadside assistance. Could be worth checking with your dealer.
I'm sure you are right catweazle the breakdown cover is not included. I've started to look for Breakdown cover as my bike is 2yrs old in mid June. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? By the way, I've just taken out a policy through Ducati Insurance today for £103 fully comp, 400 X/S, protected NCB & with exhaust, heated grips, screen & crash bungs declared!
Spot on - i checked with Ducati UK and they confirmed breakdown receovery not included. Got back to Ducati Insurance, negotiated premium down to £191 with £20 basic AA cover for receovery, only it doesn't cover none start at home or within one mile from home, guess I'll take a chance on that. If it won't start from home I expect my dealer to collect and repair. In the unlikely event it stops within 1 mile of home, I'll just push the thing!
So just got a renewal quote from MCE, and the price has come down from 318 to 208? I don't understand....can that happen? All else has stayed the same? I smell a rat? Can anyone advise?
When the Mutli first came out it was in group 17 this years renewal has put it in group 15 that could account for the price reduction, just as a wind up I was quoted £140 this year. 4yrs nc, garaged, no pillion and 8k miles per year.
24 years of age, 14 months riding, 1 year NCD. 2012 Multistrada S £500 fully comp with MCE, including discounts for California Superbike School and AIM qualifications. The next cheapest was £3,300!
Some of the rates that people are listing here are crazy! Mine - 2012 ABS BH20 postcode Fully Comp, 3000 miles pa pillion cover social use only Age 28 licence for 4 years, 2 years NCD no claims or convictions. Bike is Garaged and locked and sits on a secure army base. Insured through MCE Premium £308 basic breakdown and helmet and leathers. A little frustrated as I was with MCE for my other bike but the insurer wouldn't cover me on the Multistrada due to value of bike, so I had to end that policy (losing 3 months no claims) and start a new one, I'm now on a 15 month policy and at the end of the policy I will get 2 years no claims, not quite sure how that works but I wasn't arguing!
A friend of mine just had a very large van "towed" from outside his garden, under his kitchen window at 10:30 at night. Full of all his plumbing tools. They also slashed two of his and his neighbours tyres to make sure they were not followed! Me thinks a loaded shotgun is required!
TW14 - 45yr old Insured Oct 2012, Carole Nash Aviva Insurance £446 - Fully comp, protected NCB (9 years) Excess £500 SDP Use in Europe, passenger cover. 3rd party use of other peoples bikes. 2010 MTS1200 Sport Value £10,000 Garaged within a locked compound, full police linked security alarm and CCTV, protected by extreme force (when required). - Further the bike must be kept in this place between 10pm until 6am, if near TW14 Postcode - (London Heathrow). Rider is 45, company director, riding since 1985, Engish, UK born (MALE), ROSPA, no modifications, Looks like I may be paying too much.
Yup aircon, you're paying double what should be, mines about 2ish hundred and I live around Staines/ashford.
Paying £317 full comp, age 41, 2010 MTS1200S, Carole Nash. Could have got it cheaper if mod free but declared the de-cat and mivv exhaust mods which pushed the price up a bit.
I have a multi bike Policy with Devitt which covers a Ducati 748R & Honda Blackbird £400- Fully comp, NCB (6 years) Excess £250 Voluntary Excess £0 - Why give it away ? SDP Use in Europe, passenger cover. 3rd party use of other peoples bikes. Total Value of Bikes 13k I'm 36 and the bikes are insured under a London Post Code, notably I'm paying much more this year as last year I had an MV Agusta, Aprilia RSVR and a Blackbird for £260 Hmmmmmm that was with MCE. when I bought the Duc I was unaware of any security features as it was a 'blind' purchase based on a recommendation. Therefore at the time of quote I said no security was fitted, I subsequently called back to add the alarm and I was told that my policy would increase by £180 go figure not including £30 admin charge. reminds me when I done a quote for my car, it was cheaper having the car on the drive than it was in the garage. I questioned this and I was told the reason for this was that by driving into a narrow area such as a garage the risk of an accident was greater. PMSL. i give up trying to understand the methods used by the insurance companies.
That's surprisingly simple. Pull a random figure out of your arse, add 10%, double it if the month has a vowel in the name and then add 80% if your manager tells you the company is short of commission this week. Back in the days of my Speed Triple, I had a quote of over £1k from Aviva. A very reputable broker quoted me just under a quarter of that...for exactly the same policy from Aviva. Go figure.
~£380 for an MTS Touring and an R1, full licence for 30+ years, full no claims, both garaged but neither alarmed (except when ridden ) All the companies calculate risk, but sometimes they boost premiums to cover last years losses. My renewal last year was close on 800 quid - nearly double of the previous year. Carole Nash could get it down to under 500, but still not good enough.I've now moved to Adelaide (aka IAM Surety) who are giving exactly the same cover as I previously had, plus business use,for less money than last year.
2 years ago I was paying £129 to Ducati Insurance for the ST4s with the Sil Moto cans and other mods declared. A year ago I added the 907ie and at renewal it was £147 for both bikes, £22 extra. In November I added the MTS, with the Termi system declared, for an additional £108 but £25 of that was the "arrangement" fee, so at renewal in April I should be looking at just over £200 for the 3 bikes, but hopefully the ST4s will be sold by then which should get it back under £200.
