Insurance Renewal Time - A Positive Tale.

  1. My recent experience has been through Howden (A plan Thatcham Office - Specialist Division) for a 900SS Bevel. All the usual 'Classic Vehicle' brokers are coming in around the £500 mark but APlan have it down to £250 with Ageas. I need to see if I can get an 'agreed value' due to its value.

My '23 Multistrada V4 is with Ducati Insurance (Adrian Flux I think). They were the most competitive last year.

  2. That would make sense: “Knock 10% off his bank balance, and charge him the rest”!

  3. Ducati Insurance we’re even more pricy! £895, fully comp, max NCD, licence since 17, Roadlok, Biketrak, etc.

  4. Well, in the end I went with Ducati Insurance (BikeSure?) who undercut Cornmarket/IAM by £400, almost 50%!
That was for multi-bike policy, Streetfighter V4S with full Akrapovic and Hypermotard SP.

  5. Be careful with bikesure and the full Akrapovic exhaust system. They are possibly telling you that it’s insured, but check to make sure they haven’t described it as “road legal” in the documentation. Obviously this would mean you are not in fact insured at all.

  6. Thanks. I declared the full Akra system and that it was a performance enhancement. That is referenced in their documentation, but no reference to legality shown in either the statement of fact or their policy booklet. Good to know, though.

  7. Just had my renewal through from Bennetts
    Going up by 66% - V4PP - upto £510

  8. My bike insurance came down by £8 for the year at the beginning of this month and I've just renewed my car insurance with the RAC and it was £190 cheaper than last year :)

  9. My Gsxr1000 has gone up by £8 to £84, first one of mine to go up I think.

  10. I insured with Ducati insurance last year, think it was £440. Renewals come in at £796, can get it on go compare for £430, with Ducati insurance

  11. I wonder if the sub-forum sponsor would care to comment on that, since it was outlawed by the regulator in Jan 2022:

    https://www.abi.org.uk/products-and...s-to-the-pricing-of-home-and-motor-insurance/

'From 1 January 2022, new pricing rules introduced by the industry’s regulator, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), will come into force. The changes will mean that when existing home and private motor insurance customers renew their insurance policy, the price charged by the insurance provider cannot be more expensive than the price that they charge to an equivalent new customer for the equivalent policy.'

Does the fact that it was generated by GoCompare get them off the hook? No:

'Will these changes apply if I arrange my insurance through a price comparison website, insurance broker or retailer?
Yes, these changes will apply regardless of who you buy your insurance from.'

Please phone them and renew at the lower price, then tell them that you're reporting them to the regulator.
