Integrated Rear Light At Last!

Discussion in 'Hypermotard' started by comfysofa, Jun 12, 2014.

  1. Just out of curiosity Bradders (throwing petrol on the fire here as it were) lets say I was slowing up for a turning but on, for example my old KTM660 supermoto - that had no indicators on it, and did pass the MOT in that state...(it never had indicators on it in the first place, no, and before you ask the swtich wasn't on there either....) - and I still got rear ended by a little old granny no realising I was slowing for a turn...the fact of having an integrated light is really academic, wouldn't you say??

  2. Absolutely - one of the othe lads on here used those indicator strips and stuck them to the edge of each side panel....that looked really good and it was a pass on the MOT as well...

  3. Yep. Coz a little old lady can never do wrong in my book ;)

  4. Yep.... But the point I was making was indicating or not, external indicators or not, if little beryl doesn't see you she doesn't see you....

Anyway. It's turned up and looks to be really good quality - I haven't fitted yet but I'll take a video good or bad (quality of it wise) so you can see..

  5. Waiting with great anticipation!

  6. Ill see if I can get it fitted tonight....im very limited on space as my RSV4 is all over the garage at the moment waiting for spares....

  7. Is it me or am I just unlucky....light turned up on Monday - took it out of the box... all ok...standing by what I said I thought last night - 20 mins til tea, just a plug in jobby, nip in the garage, take a few pics and vid, post it up, job done....

    No.

I didn't even look or realize looking at the photo he sent me....the indicator plugs on the light are the SAME as the indicator sockets on the loom....ie the same gender....so, either I send it back for the correct one or, cut the cables and solder on mine....but ill have to hot wire it first to check to see if it actually works...nothing's ever simple is it...

  8. Glad its not just me and everytime i try and do something :upyeah:

  9. Yeah - ill have to do it the weekend now....ill hotwire it without damaging the plugs to see if it actually works - if it does ill cut the cables and work something out....I just need to be able to quickly unplug the integrated lights to be able to rewire a set of indicators back on for the MOT but that's ages away at the moment....

  10. The problems we go through to individualise (forgive me if that isnt a word im pissed) our bikes!

  11. Well..... It's fitted.... Couldn't be bothered to piss around.... Testing it (forgetting about the wrong plugs).... It didn't blink correctly, too fast.... I used the resistor pack from the existing rizoma indicators I had which worked. So, cut the plugs off of the taillight and used ball and socket connectors ( same as the rizoma) so I can now switch between the two sets (without butchering the loom plugs themselves.... Done some video.... Never done any talky stuff but I've explained what I've done in the video which I'll upload tomorrow.....

Now it's in it works well....

  12. I spoke too soon.... It all works with the ignition off but as soon as I fire it up.... They don't work.... Sitter... I can only gather the resistor pack is wrong.... Just...

  13. Lads.....could anyone do me a favour - the more the better.....been playing email tennis with the supplier - reading between the lines im guessing they don't believe that my bike/loom is standard...which it is, if anything the loom is what I don't want to mess with....

I need to confirm that a. another 1100evo is wired the same as mine ie pop the seat off and just confirm that the loom-side where the rear indicators plug in are the same as mine ie loom-side you've got a square femail plug with 2 prongs inside and obviously the indicator has the male connector on it...

That goes for series one 1100's as well, which is what I think this one is for as I had to connect a resistor pack to it just to get it to flash properly (until I started the engine that is...)

  14. My 796 plugs are the same as yours.

  15. Cool - that's one then! cheers - its just that if they question me then I can say "well, a 796 is the same as mine..." plus more hopefully....
