Investment Bikes?

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by d8mok, May 18, 2016.

  1. I was buying as an investment originally but am going to ride her, beautiful bike could stand and look at her for hours! Seriously thinking if I can wangle it keeping both and putting the most miles on the 996 as in a few years the 998 will be worth a bob or 2 although I've made the mistake of selling a ducati in the past and always regretted it. These bikes are a thing of beauty

  2. R1 red white 4xv 1998.
This is the thing of real beauty. Every time I looked at her I like her more and more. She has been officially retired by me now. After 30k miles. So no one can slate me ( I hope)?

  3. I would have thought 91/92 white frame SS's would have started to nudge up in value but there was 2 on eBay this week which only got to £2200, I sold mine 2 years ago for that. I also had a very nice early M900 with the yellow hoop, sold it for £2500, again not worth anymore today. With either of the above you may have to stick them in the shed and forget about them for 20 years..you never know they might then be worth £3000 ?

If only I'd of kept that SportClassic which I bought for £3500 in 2008 ☹️

My money would be on a 916 Strada

  4. I think you will find its down to a bit of the old "Greeneye" chap? Some people who haven't got the necessary paper required to own and love a collection of motorcycles, watches, cars or anything they love resent those that can indulge their lifelong passion.Simple as that

  6. I think that you need to collect something nowdays with pension plans turning out to be useless investments so it may as well be something you really love?

  7. Apart from limited editions are there really any "investment" bikes that will give you a higher return that traditional investments?

  10. 981 made world wide, I have had a woman called fabiana call me twice from Italy wanting to know all I know about the bike to update their records as she says they are becoming quite rare and they want to if possible keep track of them.

  16. Honda sp1/2. But standard low mileage. I still regret selling my sp1 but might have a great sp2 in the pipeline ironically to help keep the miles off the sport classic 1000s.
My worst mistake was selling my rc30 eight years ago for 14k with 8k miles now approx 25/30k£ grr, but it built my sun room that the family enjoy and has added to my home value.

  17. What we all need is a crystal ball

  18. I felt like kicking myself in the crystal balls when I saw rc30 prices!
