  1. Nice...nicked for FB ;-)

  2. And so did I, it seemed like a good idea under the influence of two gallons of Okells......Ho Hmmmm...

  3. Saxman,

    If you can go, Go!

I have not been for 13 years and would really like to go back but am living far away and it's a ball ache to get there.

Ride the track, yes there are dickheads, but I never had any issues and enjoyed the track on a vfr750. You will (unless I am proven otherwise) never ride like the racers there, so don't try.

Go watch and enjoy the unbelievable experience, meet great like minded guys and drink plenty of beer (in the evenings and not before you ride).

  4. Well if I rent a bike for the two days I'll be there for, I will be more careful than I would on my own bike (I want the rather large deposit back). I didn't even think about riding the course, I have never been before and have no idea how it works. I'm going with my wife so she will keep me in check.

  5. I looked at hiring a bike there last year, and couldnt find anywhere that rented them out on the island (which I find strange) so rode my blade there and back, and bloody glad I did too as it was a proper adventure. It should be on everyones bucket list.

  6. Well looks like i'll be riding to the TT on my trusty 749 with the wife on her Street triple. A 1199 for the trip cost too much.

  7. hmmm... got some plates lying around... and a rucksack... and 200quid left... :)
it def is on my list! :) bucket or not!

  8. I was lucky enough to get a crossing and a camp site ( our first time ), we arrive on monday 3rd 7pm, and have to depart on thursday 6th,8pm so will only see 1 days racing. I would have liked more time there but it was the only slot available so i took it, ( going over in a big van with two bikes)

Could you tell me on the tuesday and thursday will the roads be open to the public to explore the island etc. Is it also true that a one way traffic system is in place, ???.

  9. One way is only over the mountain.

  10. [IMG] Might want to wait until this has cleared. Taken at Jurby early this morning (not by me)

  11. Duc Devil, as already said the only part of the course that's one way is the mountain section from Ramsey to Douglas, the roads are open throughout the day until one hour before racing begins (if I recall correctly, I may be corrected and it might be two) as soon as the roads are closed that's it, your locked down to where you are unless you've stopped on the outside of the circuit. If you check out the TT website I'm sure you'll find details of course closing times. Don't forget a MW/FM radio to follow the news on TT Radio.

  12. They've had a fair bit of the white stuff, Cronk-Y-Voddy Straight

  14. Hi Saxman. I live on the Island (ride a Hypermotard). In terms of riding the track, it's no problem - normal roads (with associated 30/40/50 mph speed limits - but also no speed limit in many areas (particularly the mountain - which is indeed one way for the TT). best time to ride is first thing in the morning (more quiet) but as long as the roads aren't closed for the race you can ride any time. In terms of where to watch, there are lots (of course as it's 37 miles long). The bottom of Bray Hill is always spectacular, I love the gooseneck just at the start of the mountain climb, it's slow but great to watch. Ginger hall is good, as is the Quarterbridge (good for a pint). Braddan bridge is a good spot too. Good luck and enjoy the visit, see you on the course!!

  15. Anybody fancy a cold one at The Creg?

  16. Top pub that Mr R, I loved the Crosby too. Top food and good near flat out speeds, and you can see them approach for a fair way before the pub.

  17. I bet that first pint in '75 cost a lot less than a £ Steve. You old git.
I wasn't old enough to ride a moped then, never mind buy a pint in the pub.

See you there on Mad Sunday.

  18. Some great photos there
