From my Panigale Manual (V2) “To switch the engine off, simply turn the key to OFF;” A kill switch is just that! It’s an emergency kill switch that’s easily accessible and cuts all power instantly, it’s generally a hard wired cut off of all electrical power and will cut the power to the ECU and every other system abruptly rather than shutting the electronics off in an orderly sequence. It’s a safety feature that’s on all bikes but it’s not necessarily the best way to turn it off! If it’s not an emergency shut off use the key as per the manual which allows the electronics to bring the revs down to idle before cutting off the fuel or ignition or both and shutting down the electronics and computers tidily.
I think the Multi is different from the Panigale in that the power off/on is a separate switch and the red kill witch is ignition off. Below from manual
The 1260 is button 2 in the pic above (ie, the button the V4 MTS has for changing auto lights on/off)
That's right. The kill switch only turns the engine off. All the other stuff like lights and dash stays on.
So I found out why the ignition stayed on. The ignition button at the front of the tank was stuck in! All good now
