No point in effing around with a clutch. You can chase your tail and bugger about with this and that but basically, just get a new one.
If it's not slipping on the road under load, I'd be surprised if you didn't get a trackday out of it, as long as it can't disintegrate suddenly. That'd be my slight worry, however unlikely. Be nice to get one last burn out of it.
I’m gonna but I won’t have time before Saturday when I have to leave for snetterton. I think the best I can do possibly is get a new set of plates expedited so I can adjust the pack height on the day if it feels like it’s slipping. A new slipper will be on order anyway. Either that or I say bugger it and load the Fireblade up instead.
Maybe, but I wanted to see what the 748 is like on the track. I’ve had the blade at Donny twice last year and tbh it’s a bit of a handful.
You've gone this far and invested time and effort in the 748, you can't abandon it now! I don't know where you are but I probably have a clutch knocking about that you could borrow.
Yeah, agreed. The wife fired a warning shot across the bow yesterday. When I told her I broke the clutch and need a new one she said “that bike’s been nothing but trouble”. I reminded her that yes I’ve had a few issues but the rewards compared to the reliable, newer, Fireblade have been far greater That’s kind of you, thanks. I’m in Tewkesbury, Glos. But I’m gonna call RRP tomorrow and if they have stock of a slipper kit I’ll ask if they expedite one to me.
748 may run out of puff down that long straight but hey, the corners should be fun with those new wheels.
My 916 clutch was like that a few years back, very noisy but still worked fine. I did change it though as it was doing my head in but you should get a bit more life from it if you really want to.
