I passed a forward facing camera van at 86 a couple of years ago following @El Toro back from a blast out to Scarborough. I was thinking I might have got away with it. Terry, el toro did, I didn’t. Bastards!
I think they went from the primary to the secondary camera and managed to snap you as I think you were behind me.
Some of the new vans have a fish-eye camera on the side aswell so if your bike is red at the front and blue at the back it won't matter, I assume it gives the continuity evidence if it catches you speeding from the front but you only have a rear plate
From what I gather (from experience) if there’s more than one bike in the frame they can only ping one of them. i got lucky from this years back on my 1299 on the A23. Then got nicked a few months later on the same stretch of road in a pissing van
He should ask if it is legal for Him to do it as a "concerned citizen" and if they say NO then tell them about the pub one...
Would not be legal over here, as someone said go to the local council and complain its a distraction that could/will cause an accident. Some would suggest getting 30-40 fellow bikers to park and go into the pub on a busier day and drink lots of water for a couple of hours. The landlord/lady may reconsider the sign. Just a thought.
If the road was that dangerous, the council would reduce the speed limit. They like doing that, as it also means they don’t have to repair the roads as much, in lower speed limits. It’s not up to the pub landlord to decide to take the law into his own hands.
definitely hit on a grey (npi) area, when caught near Bury Hill a few years ago a lone Police Biker "got me" * from the front and wrote my number down as it was common practice back then. If half a dozen or more bikers of the same height on identical bikes, all in black went by together, we all know that this could easily get contested in court, and so it ought to be. The prosecutor just does the bare minimum to satisfy the "judging section" but as more loopholes are found then they are forced to plug them over time or risk a non-conviction.
Ok hear we go,notice all the council road signs leading up to the bend,i slowed right down so my wife could film this ,if i was closer to the car and van infront its too late and you have to brake because you see the van. This is dangerous and can cause accidents ,car, bike, lorry whatever
Having thought about this, disregarding the ethics or legality of this. If you were travelling at a speed that you did not notice this, what chance would you have seeing a child walk out and more importantly being able to stop. We all like to peg our bikes but there are times and places.
Having spent the weekend thinking that BSB had come to S. Wiltshire I’m sympathetic to villagers doing something about speeders. If you smear yourself across the road, and don’t hit something or more importantly someone that’s your choice, but a waste of valuable NHS resources, our nearest hospital is currently overwhelmed so you might get to spend an unpleasant time on a trolley in a corridor. Whilst this pub has done something as unpleasant as wearing a POLITE vest I for one understand why.
https://share.icloud.com/photos/021nPNgA8zKGwLO2HjU8YwViw i backed off to film this its nothing to do with the speed with a nd the van and car infront obscured the van ,hence causing anyone to brake
The real issue here is that people are forced to try to do something themselves. Where are the road traffic police? Defunded due to tory cuts. When I was young, there were traffic cops aplenty. Now I hardly see them except to nick me for my no plate (fair cop, its illegal, no complaints). But where are they for all the other nonsense on the roads? Elsewhere as there are too few of them about. Then you watch those interceptor shows and the villians get off! Due to CPS! I spent 1 week in Pentonville and 2 weeks in Wandsworth for Lambretta related offences in the 80's ffs (again fair cop, no complaints) . Now I could steal a car, cause multiple crashes and get off scot free. What is going on ffs.
If you weren't speeding the van would be irrelevant. Not sure why people don't understand that. Looking at the shape of the bends at that point, it seems they have a big issue with vehicles not making it round the bend because they are travelling too fast. https://www.theargus.co.uk/news/11489385.man-dies-after-car-crash-with-tree-in-winchelsea/ In June 2008, a 12 miles (19 km) stretch of the A259 between Hastings and Eastbourne was named by EuroRAP as the most dangerous road in the South East of England.[3][4] The report cited 47 fatal or serious collisions from 2004 to 2006 as a key issue.[5] In 2011, the BBC named the road as the "most crash prone A road" in the UK with 7,721 crashes and 120 deaths over 12 years from 1999 to 2010, an average of 65 crashes per mile.[1] https://www.kentonline.co.uk/weald/news/tributes-to-charming-and-kind-44159/
There you go. According to police, it IS legal to erect a fake speed camera - but doing so can put you at risk of civil action. Last year Essex Police confirmed that installing a fake camera is not illegal after investigating a case in Laindon. But they also said it was something they 'would not actively encourage'. If you do crash whilst braking hard because you're trying to avoid a fine due to a fake speed camera you can attempt to sue in civil court.
