  1. I got a 20% code off 44 teeth for TT+ which brought it down to £16.

  5. Eurosport have three weeks of wall to wall tennis coverage unfortunately :sleeping::sleeping:

  6. I think only live viewing is via TT+ website which is a subscription stream. TT+ also available as an app which works on some smart TVs. https://ttplus.iomttraces.com/

  10. I know they "rely on the tt" for income and they had covid blather blather but does anyone get the impression prices have gone through the roof and are a bit unsustainable they way they're going?

Looking at the price increases for accommodation, food (that italian bike night menu was peak london prices!) etc...would be interested to know if anyone found it a bit excessive over there (and i'm by no means a tight arse but i hate feeling like i'm having the piss ripped out of me).

Could swing whether i bother to book up next year or not.

  11. Totally Agree with you mate
When they started plugging the short breaks, and then extended the number of race days it really turned into a Ship em in Fleece em and Ship em out fest.
In one way I understand the Marketing because the number of Motorcyclists in general is decreasing and the average age is increasing so they have to pitch beyond the faithful who have kept them going for decades.
I have only been going since '95 but the majority of the value for money eating establishments have disappeared. The few places that are left are usually rammed for obvious reasons and the legendary Caff in Douglas was often closed by the time we got back down town from the day's racing last year.
I'm lucky with accomodation - same Homestay since '99, so breakfast is sorted, Supermarket trip for the day's packup just leaves the evening meal to find.
The pub chain grub is somewhere between average and rubbish and and costs about £30.00 for two meals and two drinks. After that it is city restaurant prices unless you want to go the the Chippy or Pizza place every night. I certainly can't afford the Italian bike night menu prices on a daily basis. Looks like we could be on Supermarket ready meals in the Microwave back at the homestay this year.
Walking through the Fan Park in the evening last year, one of the food stall holders was rubbing out all of the day's prices and adding £1 onto everything for the next day!
Ferry Prices now £80.00 each, non-ret deposit for next year and they send you reminders before Christmas now, hoping you will pay up the balance before the March deadline!
If you factor in the running costs for the bikes it will cost me about a months wages for the two of us for the 9 days. No wonder I have not had a holiday further afield for nearly 10 years.
The racing is Bloody Brilliant so I keep going back!

  12. Glad its not just me.

I know you’re paying a premium for island prices and even house prices have gone through the roof out there since covid (I’ve been keeping an eye on them!) but its not a great look is it and like you say will price certain age groups out of the market.

Sad really but I guess its happening everywhere.

    Enjoy your trip though :upyeah:

  13. Just chopped your post a bit - everything costs a shit load over here all the time - not just at the TT...

The prices on the italian menu haven't been put up for TT week - that is what we paid last month to eat there.. We had two empinadas and two dirty fries and it was £44. I was going to complain at the portion size right up until the point I tasted it. Expensive but very worth it...

A loaf of bread is a min of £2, milk prices are controlled by the farm owners etc etc.

My fav bar (which is a specialist venue) is generally £5 for a 1/3rd pint..

Aside from food trucks eating out prices don't tend to go up much at TT - and for a change fuel prices have come down this week..

There is a "undertow" of unhappiness here at the mo - you can be on minimum wage and get nailed for the highest band of income tax.

  14. Hi mate, not sure if it helps you for future trips to the TT,but I'm also travelling on a SF.....
And I didn't want to load my bike up,through fear of marking it.
So I ended up posting all my clothes etc 1 week ahead before I arrive.....
And I was pleasantly surprised, how cheap and how quick my parcel arrived.....
So for 7.8kg (about the same size as a kreiga 30lt) cost only £14.95 for first class signed delivery.

And as im throwing all my clothes whilst I'm there,no return postage, and no washing when I get home

  15. No, it's not just you. I've been going since the mid 80's and seen the prices rocket.

But, it's just the same with everything and every event. We went to the motogp a few years back and i were staggered by what i were paying for absolutely rubbish food and drink.

It's a greed disease with every money spinner in the UK, get em in, fleece em till their pockets are empty and kick em out.

There's a blues festival not far from me every year. All the takeaways, bars and shops hike their prices but drop their standards too.

It leaves a bad taste in your mouth on every level.

Trouble is, if you boycott the event, it makes no difference, somebody else will suck it up.

With the TT, I'm not a big drinker and with racing on so much, I'll end up living out of the co-op and chippies. No fancy meals for this lad, I'll likely treat myself at the italian bike night though.

  17. I went a couple of times many years ago, back in the 90's, and simply found the hassle of it being so crowded, being crammed into a campsite so tight, so difficult to get something decent to eat, and the prices even back then ruined the experience.

I've been saying for years now that I'll go to the Classic later in the year as I've heard it's a far more relaxed event, but I've not done it yet.

  18. Day three.....

  19. It is, the mgp is best if the pair.

But, i still across for the TT and will continue. I'm going for the Pre TT classic next year and back out for a bit of race week on foot.

Taking a bike to the mgp is perfect, great riding, easy watching and no bucket listers

If i had to pick one, I'd go to the mgp
