I will have this ready to ship soon my old Ducati leathers that never where, Purchased as I though I would get a 748 after a pal loned me his track bike for the summer but never did and now way to big for me..

  3. I do like a bike to handle I came from riding small sports bikes 400 Jap range and 2 strokes, never really had a hardon for the bigger bike but that could change.. Hence saying I could be in the market for a Mille if I don not get swayed by a Duc, It has been years since I rode one

  4. you would not be disappointed with the handling of a 748 or 9 (if set up of course) nor would most with their power unless ya pretty skilled or a straight line junky. I may get poo pooed here but i would say despite pub talk and pissing comps, few with "big" bikes could outride a good rider on the smaller. Not saying this as a racer or even in my mind, a very fast road rider but I've ridden with many (on bigger bikes)that have confused themself with one.
stay in ya comfort zone and when you have truly mastered the smaller bike, move up.

  5. 749 and 999 are basically the same bike as far as size and weight are concerned, the 999 has a larger capacity engine is the basic difference.

  6. power delivery and engine characteristics ( rev range) make em alot different though even Handling wise.

  7. 749 is a better choice if u want to do track work, the standard 748 engine is a little agricultural for serious track work and the testastretta motor in the 749 is definitely happier revving! I'm not saying the 748 won't handle, it will! The 749 though for me would be a better choice.

Between the 749/999 most of the noticeable difference will be in the wider rear wheel and tyre as I don't believe the geometry is different.

geometry is the same 748 vs 9** and 749 v 999 but apart from the tyre size the difference in power torque and revs plays a part in the handling. The more powerful engine may have a tendency to make the bike squat more on corner exit or spin the rear with the more torque. Different engine braking and gear selection. from what I understand the tyre life on the bigger bike is less so that must say something as to the different styles required from to seemingly identical bikes.
I love the revy nature or the lil un's!
rider weight would play a big part as well, I'm on average about 75kg a bloke of 90 or more would be robbing a bit of power.
