Hi all! What's the bike theft situation like in London nowadays ? I have a 996 that I would like to ride into the center a few times over the next month or two.

Been riding bikes into London all my life and not had any trouble.

 

Had my KTM 990 stolen three times from Fulham (right outside my flat), Covent Garden and Sloane Square. All three times broke steering lock by removing barrel. Twice lifted into an insulated van.
Always recovered from the car pound at huge expense.
Now I have an underground car park with CCTV.

 

That's terrible.

 

When you say insulated, do you mean radio opaque, i.e. it rendered a transponder useless ?

Were you using any sort of chain lock?

Over what sort of time period were these three thefts?

 

Insulated like a refrigerated van….. remarkably sound-proofed.
Two years.
Now the 996 SPS stays underground.
