i thought it was a bit more supermotad than that? is he thinking about the hard luggage and a trip to europe bless him
There's always the Husqvarna TR650 if you're looking at new bikes. Same platform as the bmw but a lot funkier. Dunno how the prices compare.
In the late 80's I owned one, did not leak oil, stuff did not fall off, useless bloody switchgear and brakes though Bike was far more reliable than the jap & british bikes I had owned previously and infinitely a better bike in every way than the guzzi that followed it handling, it had the infamous 79-81 frame derived from the XLCR cafe racer, but the 2" over forks would flex quite alarmingly when pushed hard into corners
wasnt really thinking new, just that was a pre reg (December) BMW and was £1600 off retail and under the 5k budget Dukes not out yet so would have to be new,,, Off to Fowlers Bristol tonight (its changed quite a bit since the 80's but still there!) for the Triumph launch and a nose around,
glad i bought a jap bike, was chating to a lady at a phone service desk who passes me jobs, got talking bikes as you do, her, i really like harleys, what have you got? me, a ducati, her, im really not into jap bikes? nearly choked on my coffee, but didnt have the heart to say any more ; )
A Lad i know at work has an MT03 & he did say he was thinking of selling it. Think I heard him mention abt £1500 would you like me to ask him for further details?
And the prize for the most photographed grumpy teenager sat on as many bike's as possible in a dealership goes to..........
