Throwing this in here for anyone with a 939Hyper (don't know if the same on a 939SS). Watch out if you're pressure washing - Ducati didn't agree with me when I said it's a design fault for those that wash their bikes...
Jet wash with soaps! Most auto soaps are caustic and will corrode bullet connectors, switch terminals, dull fasteners and eat grease rapidly. Mud plugging only for me. I wash by hand, dry off and ride the bike at operating temp for at least 15 minutes. Stored classics should never see a Karcher, other makes are available, 100 bar no thanks will strip paint on some bikes. Not quite the same as driven rain water across a fairing. Still pay the money make your choice.
I'd agree you need to be careful with the jet wash but they won't strip paint or ruin the electrics if you're careful. The pressure on my Karcher can be varied, and it's easy enough to stay away from electrics and bearings etc. so as not to do any harm. If you have it on full pressure and get up close, yes it'll do damage (and I stripped a chunk of paint off my wife's car once where there was a failure in the top coat and the jet got underneath when I had the nozzle far too close - lesson learned the hard way!). But even on full pressure if you spray from a distance it's fairly gentle. And jet washes save a lot of water over a standard hose as well. Each to their own though of course - if you're not comfortable with it or don't like the idea then we all have our own ways of cleaning our pride and joy
