None really. Just did it as the photo above. Then a couple of M5 or M6 bolts up through the sub frame with a thin nut holding them in on top. Enough thread showing above the nut for the tank bracket to sit on and another nut on top.
Is your tank the o/e 959 one then? As I know the 899 & 1199 rear tank to subframe fixings are different. If I go carbon subframe(Fullsix) on mine, just wondering if I’ll have issues with where my o/e 899 tank will fix. As c/f self supporting doo daa is 1199 compatible.
And this one ends now! Said I wasn’t going to mod it (much) at the beginning but I just couldn’t help myself. Really chuffed how it’s turned out and is by far too good and now too expensive to even think about selling. A big shout out to our in house wrapper (@evoboy) for doing the over size tank. All that’s left to do is change the silver lettering on the side panels and tail piece like for like but in black
Did I miss posts about the oversized tank? I looked back through the thread but it just seems to have appeared without the juicy details!
What a stunning bike you’ve built Ian with all the work you’ve done from that 998s you built to now , wow what an amazing job you’ve done , well done . love it
Nice tank - much more of a race bike look to it - I bet it would be more supportive under braking too. If I was you I would send next summer taking it to bike meets just to watch the puzzled looks on people’s faces when they try figure it out! Maybe offer a small prize for the person who can identify an OEM part!
