Beige is boring. I’m told that Spain is the second most mountainous country in Europe. If you look at it on Google maps the areas in beige are flat and boring. Avoid. This is a photo of the map so there’s no detail but zoom in on Google and obviously the dark green areas jump out at you. The darker the green the more the fun. This was the premise for plotting our route.
South by South West. The Metzeler M9RR’s were fantastic. They’re supposed to be a summer tyre but even in all that rain they performed brilliantly and gave us confidence. Uncle Baz even wore out the sides of his front tyre as opposed to the middle. Literally it had gone really triangular shaped, impressive. The Senna Mesh system was a really good addition except for when it cut out occasionally. I think it was when interacting with the TomTom. I’m not sure but if anyone knows why it drops out occasionally, sometimes for quite awhile, I’d like to know how to fix it. Other than that it’s been a great addition apart from when Uncle Bazz decides to burp in the privacy of his own helmet! Meaning I got it in stereo, inside my skull; ‘Burrrrrp! Parrdn-me’. ‘Oh, no! I don’t want to copy that Baz, no!!!’ Laughter ensued. ‘Burrrrrp! Parrdn-me’. All round Spain, I won’t miss it. Riding back up from Portsmouth we got absolutely soaked. It rained until it poured almost the whole way. It’s been virtually non stop rain ever since. The road outside turned into a river and cars have still been trying to plough along it at ludicrous speeds. Two and a half days of that is enough for me. Bike washed and in a cocoon. Clothes and leathers washed and dried, I’m out of here. I’m on another ferry, headed for baby sitting duties in Amsterdam and then….I’m heading south again, with the wife. Rain? ‘Burrrrrp! Parrdn-me’? Fk that!
I have relos in this area and have been a few times. It's very pretty and lush when compared to the dry, chav infested Costas. More rain of course, especially in the winter, however more reliable sessional weather.
