Just Spent The Weekend Test Riding The Diavel To See If It'll Make A Good Second Bike

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by El Toro, Sep 21, 2014.

  1. Wot, down to Essex?

  2. Nice little right up. You say is uncomfy, but youre coming off an 848 and 899, so when was the last time you rode something more relaxed

  3. July :)

  4. I found the Diavel fairly comfy, but found you cant really wear a pre-cut race jacket, as the arms are in the wrong place. I would love to ride to WDW on one like @Stressed Hippo. :upyeah:

  5. When I talk about comfy, I am talking about the seat area. You would have thought by looking at the seat that it would be comfortable. However you can't (or at least I couldn't) move around it as I would on my 899. My arse cheeks feel like they've been beaten with a cricket bat by a dominatrix, this morning.

Perhaps I'm ready to join the Conservative Party now :)

  6. You lucky bugger ;)

  7. in all honesty ElT i can see you on a diavel, possibly being over critical because it's the second bike?

  8. I've only ridden a Diavel for about half an hour. I found the seat comfortable but the riding position too odd. I don't like being seated so low with my hands so high. Its claustrophobic and I felt out of touch with other traffic. I don't get this sensation from Harleys and most custom bikes. I thinks its because they don't have that vast expanse of tank and bodywork to stretch round.
Trying to gauge all-day comfort is very difficult. Few people get the chance to test a bike for that length of time. I loved the novelty and sheer laugh of the Diavel but getting back on a Streetfighter just felt "right". Its a bit of luck that having bought one I've found I can ride it all day.

  9. Really, don't you mean all weekend :Wideyed:

  10. I did about 1,000Km on one through Austria and Italy for WDW and it was great fun but uncomfortable for me after about an hour or so too. For me it was in the hips as the peg to seat height was way too short. It needed another couple of inches which apparantly can be done with a different seat? That was the only gripe for me.

Would I have it as a second bike? I already have the Hypermotard as a second bike so it wouldn't fit for me but if I only had a sports bike then I definitely think it would make a good second bike, but the Multi would be my first preference.

  11. An interesting analogy which, I presume, comes as the fruit of personal experience.

  12. "Personal experience"?

More like a mission in life.

  13. Afraid not. I'm not a politician or a member of the aristocracy :)

  14. Minute changes in seating position for me make all the difference....eg....my rsv4 - comfortable....it wont go for longer than 90 mins on a tank anyway....the R6 I had last year - couldn't ride it for more than 20 mins...awful - along with the gutless motor...my Hyper - comfortable, DRZ400 I had a few years back - 10 mins and my back was aching...

As for the Diavel, back end looks nice - would definitely consider until I get to the front and that hideous light, removed from the 70's era....personal preference though...

  15. Yorkshire county cricket club invite you to a celebratory nets session ?

    county champions 2014......:upyeah:
