1200 Keep It Or Get Dvt

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by paulfastbikes, Aug 24, 2015.

  1. No, certainly not. I have put the 2011 bike back into its original condition, and one or two parts which were slightly worn or less then perfect I have put back into perfect order again. It is almost exactly as it was supplied in 2011. I'll fit optional or modified parts to the 2015 DVT, to suit myself - but keeping all changes reversible.

  2. Hi,
How does Xbikes compare to CJS? Is it just a geographic thing or do they offer different things?
    Cheers

  3. Hi, As far as I'm aware because it's been a while since I spoke to CJS, he does engine mapping only, whereas X-Bikes can do the engine mapping which includes 3 trim settings.

To explain this, you can select three levels of tune so trim 1 is everything at maximum, spark map and fuel map, trim 2 is a little softer, spark map and fuel map less aggressive, trim 3 is spark map and fuel the least aggressive. It's a bit like switching from sport to urban except the throttle ratio stays the same.

He can also alter the throttle ratio to make the throttle more or less aggressive to your personal taste. I tried this but went back to factory settings.

The trims are altered by switching the bike on (not running) and holding full throttle and pulling the clutch lever, every time you pull the clutch the Rev counter shows 5k revs for trim 1, 7k trim 2, 10k trim 3 and the headlights flash to confirm. Very clever!

But also the Tuneboy system can give you Cruise control with dedicated buttons which includes nudge up and down and a full quick shifter with auto blip on down shifts.

I chose X-Bikes because there is a lot more options as I will have the quick shifter fitted at the end of the month.

    Hope this explains for you.

  4. Hi,
Firstly, thank you for taking the time to explain the detail. Much appreciated!
Secondly are the trim levels available in all modes or just one?
    Cheers

  5. The trim levels are available in every mode.

  6. That is a lot of work mapping! Do you know how this work affects warranty? I gather Xbikes use tuneboy so rather more obvious than an Ecuador over write. In just under a year I have 7500 miles on the clock and had 6 major warranty claims and consequently I am wary of doing anything That would give Ducati any reason for not covering my bike. Based on my experience it is more a matter of when the next thing goes wrong rather than if it goes wrong. I would say my dealer has been brilliant at sorting all the various issues. Cheers

  7. Put it this way, my dealer does Rexxer remaps on bikes that are still in warranty so I have never had a problem at all with warranty.

It's best to check with your dealer just in case.
