Keep Or Sell Advice 998s Bostrom...

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Deadman, Mar 28, 2021.

  1. Finchingfield is a nice ride out & the cakes an added bonus

  2. From what i can remember there were 155 to Europe, USA and the rest of the world.

USA version had the standard 998 engine due to emission restrictions, :( but it got carbon fibre fairings :) and BB autographed the tanks :)

  3. Always wanted one of these. Great looking bikes. But I've already got one garage ornament. Not sure I'd sell it mate, I'd keep it just to look at.

  4. Quick update - Adding Helibars has given my back a bit of a rest & it passed the ULEZ test this morning. Will need to take it for a few long rides to see if is going to stay or go.

  5. i thought it was yours on ebay

  6. No, mines not up for sale yet & if i did decide it would go on here in the classifieds.

I can see 2 on ebay £23,950 with only 2 miles on it - ouch! & £20,996 in Chelmsford.

Would be really interesting to see if they sell at those prices, i wasn’t expecting such a high figure.

  7. its a 998 so i think you should paint it yellow :upyeah:

  8. Good to hear. Hope you can keep it. I had #55 eu spec. So they probably kissed each other on the production line...

  9. Ok, think i’ve made up my mind to let it go… just don’t use any of my 3 Ducatis enough to justify keeping all 3.

I need to get up in loft & garage to find all the spare parts etc (definitely have the Bostrom collectors plate, cover, rear stand & leather jacket, but can’t remember all the other parts in storage.)

If anyone is looking for a Bostrom rep keep an eye out on the classifieds & feel free to drop me a msg.

  13. Probably has a "Dead letter box"...

  14. Bikes as investments is a bit of an illusion.
Try putting some new purchase prices into an inflation calculator and you will find
very few get back to their original value let alone an investment type return.

  16. It does gets a bit embarrassing at mot time when your get 3 sorted and the mileage travelled doesn’t even come close to justify the service costs

  17. Would that be worse if, just for argument’s sake, say, you had 6 Ducatis? And a Guzzi. And a KTM. And two Hondas. And a Gilera, and none of them got to triple figures last year?
Umm. Think that’s all currently… yep, sold 4 last year and only bought one.
    Asking for a friend

  18. I feel your pain, and I've only got two bikes. If I thought too much about it, I'd realise both utterly pointless owning. So, erm, I don't think about it too much.
